116610LV vs. 126710BLNR
Sorry, an obligatory "which would you choose" thread. Please consider the following information before voting:
The facts:
I know these posts are frustrating to some, but my biggest concern is picking up a 116610LV only to have a new-movement (and aesthetically-different) version released in the next ~2-3 years. |

Get the Hulk. People still wear watches from the 60's with 'outdated' movements, and they're not really missing a beat as compared to newer ones. The 3135 will outlive you.

116610LV although had it have been the 126710 BLRO then it would be the GMT.

I had same opportunity and bought BLNR and cannot be happier. IMO LV got popular because of the hype in recent years. AD was telling me 3-4 years ago he had like 5-6 LVs sitting in safe and nobody wanted to wear a green watch. One downside of reading forums is our opinion becomes biased. At the end of the day buy the watch you really enjoy regardless of the hype around it or other people's opinion.

Movement is rather irrelevant, the current 3186 is rock solid.
The new movement we will know only in a decade. I'd go for the black 116610, it's timeless and will always be, even after an update. The green bezel of the LV is really very green in certain light and this model is currently really hyped. Hypes come and go. A few years ago "nobody" liked it and you could get 25% of from any AD without even asking. A beautiful watch nonetheless

If your main concern is that a movement update might happen soon, get the BLNR. But it shouldn't guide your decision IMO. You better buy the one that sings to you the most.
I recently got the LV, first and only luxury watch, couldn't be happier, no way I would ever resell it. |

i have both, and love both. i use the GMT function often, as i travel as much as possible and like to know what time it is elsewhere without using my phone (i say as i type this...in my phone... *headdesk*)
it boils down to what really moves you. i love my LV but i don’t wear it anywhere nearly as often as i wear one of my GMTs or my Daytona. but if you love the hulk, do it!!

It's going to be your one and only, so you may tire of the green. But it's a beautiful watch. It's not off putting that it will likely have an updated movement in a couple of years. The 3135 movement is excellent and has been proven to be Rock solid, reliable.
Plus, the power reserve should not be of great significance, since it's going to be your daily only one, so you should not even really notice a difference. I would recommend the BLRO over the LV Good luck! |

A fully green watch as an only watch is a bit much for me. If it was my 3rd or 4th in rotation, I would keep it. But as an only watch... I don't know.

This. But, I would also consider both if the opportunity allows.

Only watch you said. Power reserve is NBD and the black Sub as an only would be more versatile as well. Therefore I'd say 116610LN

As your only watch, you need to decide if the green color is okay as a daily watch, regardless of what you wear or what you are doing. If you are concerned of how your watch matches your clothing, or stands out in a more formal setting, the BLNR is probably the better choice. Or as some have said, black dial and bezel, the LN models of either watch.
I have a BLNR and a 116610LN, I've considered a 116610LV, but it wouldn't be a daily wear. |

LV 100%.
It's a unique Sub...only other colored dials are PM. Rule #27 - Only buy the BLNR if it is on an Oyster bracelet. |

Tough choice, but consider these:
- Do you need the GMT function? - Do you need the extra water resistance? - Are you buying purely on aesthetics or function? |

Thanks for the responses and input so far.
To clarify, my biggest concern is that an updated Submariner will be released with slightly-new aesthetics. Wearing an 116610LV - despite loving it - when a newer 126610 was out there would inevitably bother me. I guess there's no way to know; and hell, they updated the BLNR and most seem to prefer the original, not the new version. |

Yea but my point was we should buy watches based on what we enjoy wearing not based on whats hot now. For example if I passed a green watch four years ago, I'd pass today as well no matter its ranks.

Buy what you want and wear & enjoy it. You never know what the future will bring, and how your feelings toward the watch (and watches in general) will be.
Way back when, I was in the market for an Explorer II at the time when the new model was to be introduced. When the larger model & orange hand came out at Basel, I immediately went with the 5 digit, thinking it surely was the model for me....only to flip it within two years for my 116610LV (which I still have and love). As to the two you have posted, I prefer the less "busy" Submariner as well as its sunburst dial, but, you should buy what you like most. |

LVc in this case. If you’d have mentioned BLNR on oyster I’d have given you a different answer.
