How to ID/ find reference on a planet ocean?
Just left local jeweler that had a used PO. Salesperson could not locate a reference in her system. Any markings on the case to ID? She provided a reference but it turned out to be the bracelet ;)
Was black with exhibition back. $2,500 seemed like it could be decent deal? |

May stop by tomorrow again and shoot a pic. Also will see if they can locate box/papers. Was not too serious today but am thinking a bit more on it. The thickness of the watch is a bit concerning though. Not sure how I will like it, but if decent enough deal may give it a try and could resell later if needed without losing much. Don’t know the movement etc. bezel looks similar to what is currently pictured on omegas website.

Thanks -
I ended up getting it yesterday as evidenced from pic. Jared’s had it at $2,450. No box or papers but 1 year warranty through them. I don’t see any scratches and still a couple of stickers I had to remove in the glide lock area. Great feature by a the way. Is caliber 8900. Was not in their system correctly so still not positive on reference. I am thinking it is a 42 but don’t see that in current offering from omegas website. Has been on wrist less than 24 hours now but I really like it. |

If you're thinking it is a 42mm then it's probably the 43.5mm version of the 8900 PO
The size below that model is a 39.5mm which wears small (imho) Your model number should be 215.30.44.21.01.001 You got a bargain, congrats |

You are correct. I found out after some reading yesterday that the 42 was not produced in the calibre 8900, but was previous generation(s?) option. I also looked up bracelet reference which corresponds to the 43.5. Was also able to find that the lug with of the 43.5 was 21 mm which is what mine measures. Very happy, wears well on my 7.7 inch wrist and thickness is not a problem for me as I had feared. Cheers |

Nice watch. I have a 42mm PO 2500 movement, about 11 years old. It’s a hefty watch but rock solid reliable, I think I’ll wear it tomorrow!! Hope you enjoy yours.

Not wanting to be negative, but I’ve watched YouTube vids on how good some of the Omega copies are. |

Probably would not be a bad idea but Jared’s said they sold the piece new and took it back on a return for whatever reason. Jared’s is (or until recently was?) a large nationwide omega dealer (AD)so I don’t think Jared’s marked it low cause it was a fake but anything is possible I suppose. Thinking that liquid metal bezel and movement seen through casback may be tough to replicate as well but I don’t know much about current fakes. It also has been keeping time to within 1/2 second a day since I bought it. I am thinking I am good but anything is possible. Half of current worth may be a bit generous as well.

Check the coaxial escapement if you're concerned. The timekeeping you're stating is proof enough for me. You could stick a standard fridge magnet right on the back of it tonight and see if it gains time come morning.

I was only reading the previous posts, not trying to knock your purchase, I know nothing of Jared’s being from the UK. I’ve owned a liquid metal bezel PO and are a stunning watch. Enjoy. |

I saw that you were UK and probably had no idea that Jared’s is a large chain of jewelry stores. For all you knew from my post Jared’s could be a local pawn shop. |

Nice watch I have the exact same model - color etc. I bought it used warranty card dated 12/2020 with box and papers. Watch was basically new. However I paid 4500.00 I'm starting to think maybe I paid to much ugh! - Oh well I do really like the watch and after getting use to the weight and thickness its become my daily wear watch.

It is higher quality than the standard SMP Not just the water resistance but the applied logo and bracelet and indices and most importantly no stupid scallops but real teeth on the bezel.... it's awesome.

Nice watch and accessible as well. Was concerned about thickness but the bracelet is super adjustable so carries well. I am starting to like the weight and thickness. Chunky but in a good way.
Also runs about a second slow every 3 days. I have only experienced this kind off accuracy in my DJ41 (my only Rolex). Both watches are my only true in house movements that I own. |
