I prefer the 5205 because it has a scalloped case construction, pierce lugs and a gradient dial. It's beautiful.

Both completely different watches I would say. What kind of complications are you after? The world timer is fairly one dimensional so thus is typically less popular amongst an AC. Many would lean towards the 5205R in this comparison.

I have a 5205G and adore it, my favorite watch.

Ok so to spice it up a little, do you prefer the PP 5205G or 5205R??

That was my thought too.
Completely different watches with different functionality.

Based purely on looks then the 5230R but for functionality the 5205R because I actually find every function useful.

You really need to try them on your wrist, I have a 7.5" wrist but after wearing thin watches, or sculpted watches that at least give the impression of being thinner, the shape of a lot of PP/ALS/etc cases just don't look right to me, they just look like a great big cylindrical blob sitting there.

The scalloped case of the 5205R helped but I'm still not sure I could live with it.

We're all different, I'm not saying there is anything wrong with buying a popular watch and learning to love it, but personally I have to love it right out of the box and as soon as I see a watch I know within seconds if I'm buying it or not.

Agree, try it on your wrist to be sure. You may also want to check out FP Journe for higher-end quality.
