Thinking of engraving my watch?

I purchased a 300M this month. I can honestly admit that I like this one so much that I most likely never part with it. I was thinking of engraving the clasp below the "Omega" in a large blank area with my initials, my wife's initials and 37 years. As I purchased it on my 37th anniversary. Any thoughts? Pro's Cons?

Pro: makes it more easily identifiable if lost or stolen.
Con: loss of resale value, but if you aren’t flipping it then go wild!

A question: how much blank space is on the back of that model out of curiosity? Omega seems to have ornate casebacks.

Why wouldn’t you?
No downside that I can think of. Don’t sell it and if you ever decide to you could replace the clasp.

I misread. On the clasp there is plenty of room, I think it would be a nice sentiment.

Go for it. The clasp is easily replaceable if you decide to sell down the road.

It never occurred to me to engrave a clasp. Excellent idea!

I have a 14060M given to me by General Motors years ago and it was lightly engraved on the case back. It could be erased in 10 seconds to quote a Rolex Service Center. But I leave it as the paperwork is in GM's name.

Go for it and please post a picture. I am curious how it will turn out.

Absolutely ! I will defiantly post some pictures. May take a couple of weeks to get back. So I will be wearing it with a strap in the meantime . I will take some "before photo's" before I send it off.

Today I switched back to a strap and sent my bracelet off for engraving. Should take a week or so and will post pictures when I receive it back. But had a change in plans. My wife said this one is a keeper for me and to just have my initials in it. In 3 years it will be our 40th anniversary and we will pick a new watch and have it engraved with that mile stone. I agreed. So that's the plan. So now I can take my time and choose a special watch for that occasion. 2 years after that is my retirement if all proceeds as planned. At that time I get to choose the watch of my liking. Wife has capped the expense at 10k and has set the funds aside for this. She will get one when she retires as well. That way they will be a sentimental value to them when there handed down to our family.

On the clasp? While it is a nice idea, I think it will look cheesy there.

While I wouldn't do it anywhere, it's not the end of the world for an Omega, and certainly your property

I was unsure about engraving in the first place. But now that it is completed it gives my watch a personal claim to witness my journey from this point forward. I am glad I had it done.

Looks great OP, congrats on making it truly yours.

I may have missed this but did you send the bracelet/clasp directly to Omega? Or did you go through your AD or local OB?

Looks good and I like the idea that you engraved the clasp rather than anything on the watch itself.

What happened to the 37 years? Thought you were putting both initials and 37 on there?
