Icon20 New Lume

Is there a new luminescence Rolex is putting on thier sport watches?
Seems I've seen a couple of pics posted where the Sports watches were glowing more in the style of the Luminox watches.

My new Exp. glos for typically a few hours before saying good night , But the Luminox Ultimate field is so bright into the wee hours you could read by it.
All comments of course welcome.

I only have one Rolex left in the collection, and it has the maxi dial, but it glows through the night. My Pannies do as well, but they all could be a little brighter.

Not sure if Rolex uses just "Luminova" or "Super Luminova", but these babies do glow well into the night....albeit a dim glow by early morning, but still quite readable!!

My TT YM...

Black Exp-II...

Sub-date...

My new LV (with more luminova anyway 'cos of the maxi dial) makes it through the night with quite a bright shine. Much stronger than my ND sub (3 yrs old) and (now the boys') GMTII and normal Sub-Date. The glow of the LV seems to be much more green than the others as well - matches the bezel beautifully, often even in quite strong daylight, but perhaps it's more green just because of the increased area of luminova?

Anyone else noticed the slight colour change on maxi dials? (Shock horror, you don't think Rolex actually designed the LV to glow green in that way? )

Rolex uses Super Luminova. I've read the amount of "glow" is somewhat dependent on the mixture used on the markers. Surface area also has something to do with the amount of lume put forth. Some of the best lume I've seen come from Omega and the BM.
I'm not familiar with the Luminox Ultimate Field, but some Luminox pieces use gas lights which are just fantastic!

I agree the Maxi-Dial does close the gap between Rolex and some of the others brands with great lume.

My LV

The GMT Master Lume

Here's my GMT Master in near darkness.

The lume is good in the wee small hours. For example, yesterday (SUN) I filled myself with beer, red wine and chocolate eggs, so the wee small hour was 4.20am

BTW I am now over the flip disease. (thanks to some of your comments) I shall keep this one because it's such a nice watch and a great timekeeper.

Good decision, Steve....one you will NOT regret later on down the line.

Good luck - JJ
