Help: Small Chip in DSOM Ceramic Case
So I bought a Dark Side of the Moon recently advertised as mint - when I got it there was a small chip on the side of the case (see picture). Any thoughts on how I should handle? What impact does it have on resale?

Terrible for presale. Better work on return/refund if advertised as mint.

I would maybe ask for some compensation but keep it. You are gonna wear the watch, right? You will most probably acquire some lovemarks yourself.

Depending on what you paid for the watch and the ability to return it I would contact the seller and see what they say. If you love the watch and are going to keep it then I would need a large concession on price, $700-1000, to keep it. The easiest thing to do is return and find a case that is not chipped. The resale on these watches is poor at best and if you add in a chipped case you may not be able to sell or trade for anything close to what you have in it.

I believe the USP of the Sides of the Moon are that they don't mark with them being ceramic. My concern would be has the chip weakened the structure of the case. I'd return it myself.

Omega authorized service center quoted $5000 to replace it!

Wow that is insane. I’ve been seriously considering buying a dsotm for awhile now but these types of stories really freak me out. Also, that is a ludicrous price for a replacement mid-case. I work with zirconia almost every day and the material is not expensive these days. Omega should think twice about their approach on this IMO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Settled on a refund of $750 from seller - $5900 net price. I think resale dropped more than that but I’m keeping it and to pursue more would have been a hassle. Call it a learning experience.
Thanks for the advice |
