Two third of way in here.

SLA017 purchased again a few months ago. I was struggling with sellers remorse for my 1st 017 traded last year. Got my 033 delivered today. Both are rock solid and worth every penny. Happy with what I got. Cheers.

Just realized I didn’t post this here. Picked up the 039 to go with my 017 and 033. Haven’t taken it off the wrist since Saturday. Amazing piece.

You people are insufferable. All you enablers were the catalyst that led to my relapse. To be sure, I'm not blaming you - I bear sole responsibility but freely admit that I could not help myself. All these gorgeous dive watches being posted here combined with a hefty dose of remorse for selling my MM some years back, I secured an SLA033 and must now begin the interminable wait for its delivery. Since it's coming from overseas, it may be a long one, so to borrow a quote from Apocalypse Now, I wanted a mission and for my sins they gave me one.

Yes! Excellent choice! The wait will be worthwhile, you'll see

New club member checking in.

Just purchased, peeled the stickers off, and popped it on the wrist right now. Loving it!

Thanks, guys. I’ve been a little nuts for Seiko lately - both SPB Willards, the SPB149, and now this. Can’t stop staring at it.

The SLA017 wasn't on my acquisition list, but got a good deal and picked one up. The SLA033 is a real contender now because of my 62MAS. Absolutely love it.

congrats
Looking most awesome 👌
Keep on mind that the SLA033 wears differently from the 017 in part due to the additional mm but geometry as well. Try one on before you take the plunge

Can I join the club?

Ever since I sold my Marine Master 300 (SBDX001), I've been lusting after another high end Seiko to fill the void and this one does it beautifully. It's a perfect modern compliment to the 6105.

Very cool. How does the SLA033 compare to the original in overall fit and finish? I’ve never handled a 6105.

The 6105 is one really nice watch and you can tell during their heyday they were robust purpose built tool watches. However, because of their age, they are often susceptible to moisture penetration as well as having worn movement parts, so I consider them to be a collector's watch. I wouldn't even wear mine in the rain, and I store in a de-humidified environment.

The SLA033 fit and finish is Grand Seiko quality stuff. It's a fully capable dive watch, but I view mine a luxury sports watch and treat it carefully. If I'm looking for a tool watch, I'll put on my SRP turtle. I love the polished bezel insert on the SLA, and the dial, markers and hands are exquisite. Even the second hand that people have been critical of is really nice.

Visually, the SLA is closer to the original 6105 case shape than the Prospex (Willard X) version, which I had but since sold. The 6105 remains the "roundest" of the bunch and sets the standard for the design. To me, that round case shape is really what makes the watch and SLA has enough 6105 "DNA" to make it very compelling. It has a similar wrist presence. At a glance they can be mistaken for the same watch. I would have liked to see a chamfered crystal on the SLA like the 6105 had, but that's a minor nit pick. Overall, I'm very happy with it.

What’s the story on the W. Jean? I ordered various Uncle Seiko straps 3 weeks ago but haven’t received them. I might have to move on.
