Is this a serious question? The Royal Oak is superior in every way! No brainier.

Hard for me to say, I've never tried the 15500 on. The 15400 was too big for me, so I would have voted Batman. As it stands I am not qualified to vote until I try a 15500 on my wrist.

That being said, the Royal Oaks are absolutely incredible. Rolex GMT is a great care-free everyday wearing watch. You kind of need them both.

Don't particularly like the Batgirl, so yes.

why not if you can only keep one and like the AP, especially if you can sell the batgirl at grey price and buy the AP at retail.

I sold my oyster bracelet blnr for a 15400st. Best thing that I ever did. I'm pretty sure you'll need to come with a lot of cash in the aftermarket space for the $30,000 15500. Unless you want to wait for one from a boutique.

+1

I don't have any experience with AP, but anecdotal evidence has shown me that a Rolex will be easier and less expensive to maintain.

The 15500 is beautiful though and probably wears a bit larger than the GMT. At retail, it wouldn't be all that much more than the GMT at market. However, the 15500 at market is trading around $30K, with the GMT around $15K. Is the RO twice the watch that the GMT is? I'm not so sure.

Good luck!

AP looks much better than Rolex, on larger men with larger wrist.

For a slim dude with slim wrist, Rolex looks way better, as AP RO will swallow any small wrist, and look out of proportion.

Conversely, Rolex watches look ridiculous on larger men with larger wrist. Looks like a kid's toy stuck on a big grown man.

So, it depends on your build, and your style.

Would take the Audemars Piguet 15500 over the Batgirl.

batman looks great for a 9-10k watch - AP looks like 20k plus watch and its visible in the finishing. long story short for me the AP is a no brainer.

Rolex GMT Master II Batman is less than half price of AP RO 15500ST.

Both are excellent watch for their price. Buy based on your budget.

But OPs questions if he should sell his batman to buy 15500 - if I had the extra money I'd do it.

But what if I’m a small man with chix wrist but large man attitude?

I’m assuming your going to have to add a considerable amount to get the RO after selling the GMT... they are totally different watches at different price points, MSRP and market.

The GMT is definitely more robust but if you want a solid upgrade, the RO is definitely the right choice.

I’d keep the BLNR unless you’re getting 15-17k on the trade value. I find a Tolex GMT essential in any worn collection so would not part with it if your only GMT.

These are complementary watches. It’s not an “either or” situation, except if it’s selling one to fund another.

It’s like comparing a hardy pair of chukka’s to a pricey loafer. Both are shoes.

If funds are not the issue then keep blnr and buy a 15500, as stated above they are complementary in a collection. Wear the blnr daily and the 15500 on weekends. If you are selling the blnr to fund the 15500 then go for it. The 15500 is absolutely the better watch and you won’t regret it.

Someone recently told me, a Rolex is like a Skoda with a leather steering wheel.

I own both. They are two totally different watches. The AP is the nicer watch of course, but definitely keep both.
