Wow, congratulations. My AD says they just have no chance of getting that piece in, so you’ve done very well indeed. Please don’t flip it.... the greys are selling them for north of £65,000!!

Thanks all.
It’s a great watch and along with this bad boy it will be a mainstay of my collection for a long time to come.

Have you had other Patek's before settling with the 5712 and new addition?

The orange strap is great but definitely a summer / casual feel to it, not a fan of it on the black strap. Just glad it's always sunny up North so I can wear it.

It’s a great match to my favourite jacket and here it is next to another orange handed stablemate

Thought I'd give this thread a bit of an update on all of the fun and games I've had with the 5968a. The experience hasn't been as pleasant as the day I picked the watch up.

Between March 19 and July 20 my watch has been back to Patek on 5 occasions, absolutely appalling, once is bad enough 5 times is..... well I won't swear as I don't want to get banned.

29/08/2019 Chrono hand started resetting to 55 second mark, received watch back 19/11/2019. 13 weeks away

22/11/2019 Chrono hand was off-centred and was clearly visible to the naked eye, received watch back 19/12/19. 4 weeks away

24/12/2019 wore the watch on Christmas Eve, the strap hadn’t been fitted correctly into the lug holes by Rhone so when I was out the watch fell from my wrist onto a carpeted floor from circa 4’. Received the watch back 16/03/2020 when I visited Rhone Products. 13 weeks away

19/07/2020 bearing in mind lockdown and the watch hasn’t been worn very often the Chrono hand still had the fault of resetting in the 50’s, watch also completely stopped working, received the watch back today 20/08/2020. 5 weeks away.

20/08/2020, Chrono hand initially resetting in the 50’s, now resetting in the 30’s.

Watch has been in the repair centre for nearly 9 months of my 16 months ownership.

I came to an agreement with Patek that they would send me a replacement watch which arrived today. Guess what exactly the same issues as above.

I am now the lucky owner of 2 broken 5968's.

I can't post videos so check out Instagram chunkythebulldog1976 for a video of the 2 watches

Yikes, that's really bad... sorry to hear. Isn't the 5968 movement the same as the 5980s? I'm surprised it's not more widespread if it happened on two of yours.

Yes same movement.

I know somebody who had an issue with their 5968 and another friend with a week old 5980r that had the same chrono hand issue.

Horror, horror, horror... But the update is much appreciated.

You are going to sell the first one for parts and return the second one to Patek for another round of repairs or just ask for a full refund for having had enough?

When I say the proud owner of 2 5968's I actually only own one. The second one I am holding hostage until the situation is resolved to my satisfaction. Which as it stands is a third watch coming out to me in about 3 weeks.
