kind of kicking a dead horse, but how come these and GP in general get no love? i know most call it a knockoff even tho it predates the 222 and the nautilus. i cant imagine ever trying to actually unload or sell one of these, but the laureato line seems like a deal on the secondary market. i mean these are almost 1/10 the price of 15202 and 5711. not sure how the finishing is on these, but that the rolex OP goes for more than these seems nutty.

seems crazy that a company like GP that does some advanced movements and supplies to other big companies doesn't get much respect outside of WIS.

It didn’t pre date the Royal Oak. :)

In any event, i think the Laureato is successful. Not Royal Oak/Nautilus successful. But still successful.

I didn’t like the finishing on the case/bracelet for the price. Didn’t feel like a $10k+ watch. Also, for a 6.5inch wrist, the 38 wears too small and the 42mm too big.

Of all the non Nautilus/Royal Oak luxury sports watches in the mid tier range, I find Chopard Alpine Eagle the best. The movement is not the best looking for the price but the case, bracelet, and dial are top notch. That will be my choice over Laureato and Polo S. And now in the upper tier, Moser offers a great alternative in Streamliner, albeit a bit expensive, if you can’t get your hands on Royal Oak/Nautilus and Overseas/Odysseus are either big for you or not attractive enough.

The Laureato is a great watch! I’ve owned a couple. I just have issues with keeping watches for very long. But I’d own another in a heartbeat.

Hence you try and find the 41mm Limited Edition to buy. A much more refined watch all round IMHO.

I own both an Overseas in blue and the grey Laureato. When comparing them side by side the difference in finishing is obvious - Overseas by a landslide. BUT - the Laureato was purchased new for less than half the price of my Overseas.

It’s a sleek, well designed mid-tier sports watch. I have a very wide 6.75 inch wrist and it fits great - I’m very happy with my purchase. I can’t say I’ve seen an Alpine Eagle in person - perhaps the finishing is better - but I ruled it out as I just didn’t like the design.

I have to say, I just picked this one up and am thrilled with it. In my opinion, the quality, finish and style are everything I could ask for at this price point. No regrets here.

Yea I dont expect the same finishing as the RO, but at 8k from a dealer or 6k used, seems like a relative bargain. I like the overseas too, but was shocked at a video review where the close-ups showed poorly applied lume. Was thinking about a gray dial one, but now I want the new yellow Rolex OP.

I agree on the size. I want a 42mm but it just looks too big on me

I've always liked the Laureato in photos. However, when they re-released it a few years ago, I tried it on and it just didn't do anything for me. It's an interesting design, and I still think its a very good looking watch. It's just not the right piece for me.

I tried it and liked it. I didn’t buy it as it would have constantly reminded me of royal oak which I don’t have.
