Should I just give up?

Anecdotally, a few months ago an AD near Calabasas, CA (suburb of LA... Kardashians, Justin Bieber, etc. live here so the kind of place where stock turns quickly I’d imagine) quoted me a 6 month wait for a ND Sub. Zero prior history, had no idea who I was, and I was dressed very plainly - not some d-bag covered in Louis Vuitton or whatever. So they had zero reason to think I was worth anything as a customer. So to me 2 years seems crazy for that model.

Where in the UK are you?

Are there any small out if town AD's other than the national chain AD's (Goldsmiths) etc?

Obviously, the dumbass AD has no idea about Ferrari vs Rolex sales volumes. If Rolex released a special model run of 50 pieces at $1.5 million, I would expect only known Rolex buyers would be able to obtain one. The volumes and prices for Rolex and Ferrari aren't remotely the same.

When you read the description it says watch is coming from EU.
Also why would it have a random price which normally suggests converted currency

Alternatively, take a vacation in Florida, buy a watch from DavidSW for $9175.00 (£6875.00 UK) and take it home with you...

I had been looking for a Sub date since August in the US (East Coast), UK (London) and India. All my pursuits in the US and UK were pointless and I eventually got one from an AD in India. I would definitely take everyone's recommendation and diversify your search. You can tell when an AD has no interest in selling to you and in that case, move on.

It will almost certainly be a watch sourced in the EU. That’s what grey dealers do. Makes no difference as Rolex warranty is worldwide. Guardian of Time are definitely legitimate. Have bought from them before.

What do you mean by random price? It actually states;

All Our Prices Are Final Figures. You DO NOT Have To Pay Anything Extra!

Also, why would you have a problem with an EU watch? They actually all start there in the first place don’t they....

Yes 7 in total but Beaverbrooks were interested in the others.

Between this and not selling to non-locals there is very limited freedom of movement in the UK, ironically!

Why are people playing these games for a watch. There are so many other brands that actually value their customers. Rolex does not deserve your business, go buy another brand. The past few years I have completely purged myself of everything Rolex and it has been liberating. The past year and a half I have purchased Omega’s, a IWC and a Breitling. Guess what, they are just as enjoyable to wear as every single Rolex I have owned over the years.

- many buyers of watches over $2000 don’t like purchasing things that don’t get them social admiration. Let alone $8000. Even more know nothing about the watch and simply want to buy it because it IS Xamount of dollars. (Majority of royal oak off shore owners in my experience )

- im with you in the sentiment of Rolex in general. Outside of the explorer 2 and sky dweller, the brand does nothing for me, but the brand is such a globally understood status symbol (no matter how vain or misplaced), one will have to make “the switch” you did if they dint want to jump through these hoops.

OP, If you really like the Sub, then it’s worth waiting for it. However if it’s just another watch to you, then go with other models of Rolex or other brands.
Grand Seiko and Zenith are really good brands in the same price range.

When I was in college I had my heart set on the Omega speedmaster man on the moon but I couldn’t afford it. Instead of waiting, I bought a preowned seamaster from online for $1200. I thought that would satisfy my itch. To this day I still regret that purchase. I felt like I am settling.
So before you look into other brands, make sure you won’t regret it later.

Other TS have them too. There is generally no tax on out of state purchases. They generally ship for free, next day air. That makes it a $1000 premium to enjoy the watch now.

You can do that and enjoy the watch, or wait, or give up and go to another brand.

I would buy a Sub from one of the many TS here, like Chase, David, Patrick, SohAIS etc. I have bought from and sold to each of these men during my time in this hobby. They are 100% reliable.

Opinions vary on this subject. But I don’t see you getting one from an AD without a relationship.

Happy hunting.
This. Bought watches from all of them, and Takuya. Have the watch tomorrow completely as advertised from any of them. No muss. No fuss. And this isn't a Pepsi or Daytona. There isn't a huge markup. It would be worth a grand to me to not have to play games.

Unfortunately, I did not see OP was in UK, so VAT and customs adds cost versus buying here in the States. Hopefully, he can find a good TS in the EU. Funny number of abbreviations in my typing!

Good luck OP.

From reading the forums over the past few weeks our American colleagues seem to have a much better supply than us here in the UK!

6 month wait is still a little long even for a non celebrity. With all due respect, the likes of Justin Beiber in that area wouldn’t go for a Sub ND so it’s not like the average joe has to be last in a long list of celebrities waiting for a sub.

Omega has won my business and will continue to do so from here on out. Rolex has honestly become very off putting to as a brand to me.
