My birth year.

Question, being out in the daylight, will it go darker or lighter?

Bumping this up .... Does anyone know how light will affect the patina over time? Will it darken or get lighter?

I wore mine daily for a year in a lot of sun and it got noticeably lighter, locked it away for 6 months and it had darkened a tad, wore it, lightened - so yes. Sun will lighten the plots. When not wearing it, put it away in a dark box ;)

My experience - your mileage may vary.

Hello All...here is some very old patina (1954) from my father's Submariner 6205. I let it go to an avid collector several months ago due to the utterly ridiculous price it commanded and a need to diversify my collection to be able to be divided equally amongst my five children. This little gem spent 1966/67 in the jungles of Vietnam and then was "lost" for several decades before becoming a family "barn find"...gone but never forgotten. Hope you enjoy the picture that includes my father's Bronze Star Medal.

Took possession of this watch today. It's at 1967 Rolex 1675 with matte dial and the rare small GMT hand that is said to be the transitional model after the gilt dial. From what I have researched the very early matte dials came out with the small GMT hand before being replaced by the big hand production. Maybe they used the left over small GMT hands from the gilt dials before going to the big GMT hand with all the matte dials or maybe it was planned to do a small run of matte dials with small GMT hands....???

Either way I had to search high and low for this watch which seems to be in very limited numbers, especially in good condition.

My knowledge of vintage watches is very small so correct me if anything above is wrong.

Any how I think I'm I love with it.

Thanks for this. Interested to hear what others have to say.

I've worn mine my 67 5513 fairly regularly for about a year with no noticeable difference. I guess we might not have as much sun in our part of the world

Does it have to be a Rolex? OK, I have a couple of those, too.

If you have that yellow patina working on your dial, break it out, take some pics and let's see 'em. Also, it would be nice if you would provide some details or history on the watch for all the curious members here who frequent the vintage section of TRF.

I'll start off with this seldom posted 1985 GMT 1650 which I have owned for over a decade now. It is an original example, and rarely makes it out of the vault. It was a one owner watch before I purchased it and is a very complete set. Definitely one of my favorite GMTs.

Nice!! Curious - How was the patina when you got it? Has it increased over these past 10 years? Finally I would assume before it went to your hands it as also rarely outside? Thanks!
