Silver? Since when are modern day watches made using silver?

The BLUE dial on the SUB is available in the TT and the new WG models only.

The SS only comes with a BLACK dial.

I think he's referring to the Sub that was released to the asian market back in like the 80's.

It was in fact a stainless sub, with blue bezel insert and blue dial.

I think he's refering to this,

Some feel this was an Asian only release a while back while others feel at best it's a "marriage" watch.

Strong opinions on both sides by serious collectors. I still don't know what to believe.

I have the blue face, blue bezel, but in rolesor, ss and gold. It's a nice looking watch, but the all silver that's posted looks good.

OOps, I meant to say SS, also. I really wasn't criticizing. I like the stainless steel one just as much. They're both awesome watches.

The serious collectors are split on the fabled blue SS sub supposedly released in a batch of only a few tens of watches specifically for an Asian dealer.

Do you have the inside line or do you assume it's a chinese knockoff?

In my opinion, it is the same as the 16610's you may see with the serti dial..I have not seen ANYWHERE that this model was ever made, not even in the Asian markets and I have been there many, many times

I tried one on last week that looked just like that but it was WG and had a 30K price tag with it. But a real nice watch!

I recently saw a white gold/SS with blue face and bezel at Park Place Jewelers. It is a new release, and quite stunning. The center links are high polished which make it stand out from an all SS Submariner. FYI Park Place is located at the Mall of Millenia in Orlando Florida.

Regards,

Mike

I'd be cautious about jumping to such a conclusion. The last time I was take-it-to-the-bank sure that a display back for a GMT could not possibly have been produced by Rolex, I got proven $100,000 wrong, much to Lol-x's chagrin - he hasn't let me forget it yet.
