^Sorry, not a fan. Takes away from the magic of the GMT, in my opinion.

Fair enough. Makes it so much comfortable as a daily beater specially in a dress down environment I work in

Rolex 16710 - Old Advertisements

When I was kid over 30 years ago growing up in a poor suburb in Perth, Western Australia, I would see these Rolex ads in magazines and stare in amazement. I was in awe and wondered how people could achieve these wonderful feats wearing a Rolex. I was determined to one-day get a GMT Master.

In September 2007, I purchased a new Z-series 16710 Coke from Kaimana Kea Rolex Boutique in Honolulu. This was the transition period to the new ceramic model 116710LN and the Japanese sales agent showed me both old and new side-by-side. I think there was a $1,000 price difference between the two models. Although the 116710LN was a beautiful watch, the 16710 took me back 30 years to those glamorous ads I saw as kid. It took me a nano-second to decide. The non-ceramic model just had that special emotional connection.

The Coke has just come back from it its first full service at the RSC in Sydney and looks brand new. I think its got another 40-years of life left.

Well I finally get to join the GMT club. Picked this gem up earlier this week when I was not looking to purchase. Just to good to leave the case.

On the outside mine looks just like the other 16710's shown equipped with a black bezel.
Here's what they look like on the inside.

Love these kind of stories. Thank you for sharing.
