Looks great Lisa! It probably needed a case clamp to keep the movement from rattling. The black dial looks great, can't wait to see if you pick up that moonphase!

Thanks, guys. Looking for black straps now - it's kind of tough to find 18mm in a women's short length, but I believe it can be done.

Including the cost of the watch, or just the service? If the former, then that's astounding, but if it's the latter, you did OK.
I have mine (50s) in the shop now getting a complete restoration with an estimate of ~$600.
Straps: Ebay has some nice original Omega NOS and good repos.

Everything - cost of watch plus the service - added up to less than $400. Thanks! It was in pretty clean shape (just, ahem, not actually running) when I got it, though, and I did not opt for a redial, which would have added quite a bit. And since the watch guy was in town (he's the watchmaker at our local Rolex AD who also services Omega) there was no shipping involved.

Tell us more about yours! Pics?

It's taking 3 months for him to get the parts together plus his backlog of work, so pics later. I got mine for "free" (inherited) so I don't mind spending the money on it, but OMG yolu got an incredible deal! (Mine will be black like yours which makes for a fantastic contrast with the gold.)

Greg, here's where my ignorance shows - this watch isn't a Seamaster or a Constellation, so I'm not sure what it was called. Just a basic Omega dress watch?

Looking forward to seeing yours when you get it back.

There was a lot of dumb luck involved with my purchase.

Hello Lisa!!
You are having a lot of Omega activity lately!! And with great results!!

Your Cosmic is so gorgeous, but this one is a beauty too!!

I love bumper auto movements! They feel so funny on your wrist, when you feel and sometimes hear its "poing poing" inside! That´s a completely different experience and feeling!

I have several old Omegas similar to yours, and those with gold case look terrific with a set of reddish hued alligator straps.
Please go for the real ones, not those of leather "similar" to croco. Once you see real croco on your wrist, you won´t like the pseudo ones.
Yes, they are not cheap!

Now, if you don´t wish to spend on croco, you can go with a nice leather ones. May I suggest ostrich? They are so pliable, and with its so warm honey color, they look wonderful on a gold cased vintage.

Now, I went really wild on some of my vintage gold cased Omegas, with a lizard dark blue set of straps.

I love to play with straps, as they can change the personality of your watch in one second! They are part of the fun of these beautiful watches Lisa!

Enjoy your cute watch in good health, and recevie my best cordial regards, Abel.

Hi Lisa:
Here I´m again:
If you wish to know something else about your new vintage, you should go to your favorite watchmaker, and ask him to open its case.

You will find the reference number of your model, inside the case back, and the case serial number.

You will also be able to take a look of the movement, and know exactly which reference number it has, as Omega offered several bumper movements.
You will also find the movement serial number on it.

Serial numbers can give you a very close notion of the vintage age of your watch.

Hope you´ll find this suggestion interesting.
Very cordially, Abel.

yes, thank you, Abel. Excellent advice. The seller's ebay listing stated the bumper movement is a cal. 351, from 1954. So that's a starting place to begin my research.

I appreciate your suggestions about strap options, too. I imagine that I'll have several for either watch when all is said and done. They both have take the same size strap - 18mm. I just have to find a strap short enough to fit my skinny wrist. That's the challenge.

Thank you for your answers Lisa!
You won´t have much trouble getting a correct size set of straps.
You´ll also get a lot of enjoyment by trying different sets of straps (colors & skins).

That will add to the enjoyment of your vintage Omegas!
All the best for you! Kind regards, Abel.
