Vintage 6098 serial #916

Hi can anyone assist.

I have a Rolex Model # 6098 Serial # 916*** It has a white dial, gold hands, sweeping second hand and has numbers 1 -12.

Basically I am considering selling this item but really need to know what I have first.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Regards Tony

Thanks for replying, the pictures aren't very good. I dont believe that the watch has been altered in any way other than the wrist strap.

I have done a fair bit of searching on the www for the same watch but no luck so far.

Thank you for replying to my question, any info at all would be great.

your serial suggest 52/53 which is a pretty special time for the birth of the Explorer....but the thing is your dial is a bit different due to (1) The lack of the word "Oyster Perpetual"...this watch just has Perpetual under the Rolex logo........
(2) I have not seen one with the numeral on each of the hour markers,on the dial.... i've seen some with 12 in numerals but not all 1-12....

case looks right from the photo imo.....

It is a big bubbleback and should come with non-fully enclosed movement. The dial looks to me a refinished one.

I agree with Bagel that it's an (old) dial refinish. I've never seen such a funky coronet before!
