Vintage Double Red Alert??

Dear All,

There is a Vintage SS Rolex Double Red Sea-Dweller for sale on ebay in Oz, bidding is moving up. The dial dosn't seem right to me.

The dial is indeed strange. This sample here has closed 6 (610m) with a Mark I face.
I thought closed 6 only happens for Mark IV faces.
Need more vintage expert opinions.

P.S. I'm wary of this seller as his stuff are mostly high prices and all very difficult to authenticate.

Pulled too. So, were there 2 DRSD on offer in ebay.au?
Both from the same person or what? I didn't get a chance to see the second one!

2 Drsd

The first listing was from a well know Australian Seller "helomolto" the second was from a seller "johncoleman2008" who had been registered for 1 day with 0 feedback. "johncoleman2008" stole one of photos from "helomolto's" listing and stole a photo from an Italian watch site. I don't know what happened to "helomolto's" listing - it must have been pulled, bidding was over 10K.
However it is relisted http://cgi.ebay.com.au/VINTAGE-SS-Ro...QQcmdZViewItem

Hey Kai and others

I don't think this warrants a reporting, as there is not enough information that it is a total fake.

The dial is redone, yes, but the seller has noted this in his listing.

The caseback is altered, which to me is a deal breaker (as well as the dial), but may still be a genuine Rolex caseback.

At the very least, I would send the seller a message indicating my concerns, before any "reporting" is made to ebay.

Just my 2 cents.

Well well, this auction is still on and I see someone will lose $14k tomorrow. Now the description says both dial and case are "redone", yet people are still bidding...

I have reported the sale based upon the disclosure of the redone parts that have been disclosed in small print only. I don't know if E-Bay is going to pull it or not but it is in their hands.
