Icon20 Advice on trading up to a DRSD

Hello All,

I posted last week about my whether or not to buy 5513 in mint condition here in Japan. I bought and now the previous owner is offering me chance o buy a DRSD Mark 4 in mint condition with Rolex Japan Service papers. I am not worried about authenticty as he is impeccable and he will even escrow it while I have a certified Rolex dealer of my choice in Japan check it out. Here is a picture.

My dilemna: He will take back the 5513 and put that cash towards the DRSD (price is $20K US - $4K for the 5513 which would bring the price down to $16K). In order to afford this watch I need to sell a few other watches which would be a Panerai 212 (#5 of the first batch made), a Panerai 000 logo (never worn) and a 168000 (mint) in addition to this (assuming I got a decent Japan Yahoo auction price) I would need to pony-up perhaps another $3000. What would you do? Keep the 4 watches I have and the cash or go for the DRSD?

None of those watches are that special, the DRSD is. Also you only have one wrist, so go for it.

Not only would I do it, I am currently doing it as we speak. 20k US with service papers, that is a good deal. I can't even find one without provenance for that much. Good luck.

If you only want 1 watch then do it, as the DRSD is one hell of a watch, but if you want variety then you need to ask yourself what's attracting you to the DRSD and could you live with just one watch.

That thing looks so awesome, the thickness really sets it apart, surprising how similar some of its proportions are to the DSSD.

The DRSD is something special and will keep going up. The other watches can be replaced anytime if you want.

That DRSD is so gorgeous... I really don't know how you can sleep at night knowing you have the chance of owning it. I bet you make 3K more this year just from the extra confidence you'll have with that watch on your wrist
