What's your favorite ink in clear demonstrators??

I'm all excited about picking up my first clear demonstrator tomorrow and I'm interested what inks TRF uses that look cool sloshing around. Do you guys use shimmering inks or maybe lighter, translucent inks? Post pics if you can

Hey Form! It depends on the color of the demonstrator.

For the clear ones I love the Lamy Pacific or anything that is brightly colored. It make the pen look like a piece of crystal jewelry.

You're killing me Richard! I was about a micron away from pulling the trigger on some Lamy Pacific a few pens ago. Now I'm going to have to pick up a bottle I have the Watermark filled with Ama-iro right now and you're right, it looks like a fine piece of jewelry. I was able to do a few fills and get the ink level almost to the top for the full effect. I'm looking forward to this Lamy pacific now. The Ama-iro is a little dark in the pen but puts down an amazing blue line on paper

Got Pacific (no different to std Lamy turquoise), Iro Konpeki & Amairo, many other turquoises... meh they don't look anything special in clear bodies. (Warning many get stained too) Purples & blacks aren't too interesting either.

Current all-time favourite in a clear demo with clear feed is Burgundy, specifically MB Burgundy... it really sloshes & dribbles thru like Blood

Rookie pen collector mistake. How could it be?! If you'll excuse me, I'm going out to the backyard to commit seppuku with a Century 3776 music nib

Y'know, if cleaning wasn't an issue I'd be tempted to fill that with J Herbin 1670... eg Emerald, Bleu or Stormy.

Bought some 1670 bottles last year and if you let them sit the particles settle out onto the bottom often looking like chrome on the tank floor.

Haven't found a need nor pen I'd bother filling them with 1670 just yet. Nor haven't gotten their latest chestnut brown 1670 yet, got sidetracked by MB's Little Prince bottle instead. :)

Oh.... don't do it with a 3776! And not a music nib! Those tines would likely get hung up in the process!

You need something with a larger nib to accomplish the disembowelment with the proper vigor! A Namiki Emperor or Danitrio Mikado would be more fitting. I does need to be a Japanese pen for understandable reasons. And you could pause in the middle of the ceremony to write your goodbyes on rice paper with your digestive juices! The ink effect would be a cross between a nice red and toffee brown I would think. Now that would be cool and likely make Pen World Magazine! Don't forget to set up your Go Pro!

BTW, if your seppuku is successful you might consider leaving a few pens to our collections here on TRF. You know they would have a good home and I would certainly light a candle before them at least once per week. I would even take the Emperor or the Mikado that your perform the seppuku with. It would be special! I would burn incense before it.

And that Visconti could be considered a demonstrator in my book. With some nice metal smithing wrapped around it. Anything you can see into and "demonstrates" the workings of the pen can be defined as a demonstrator in conversation. Skeleton is the proper nomenclature when speaking of the design.

That is one glorious skeleton demonstrator!

Mikado on the left. Emperor on the right.
