Which PATEK 5712?
Him,
I am new to the forum. I have two choices in buying a used 5712 from the grey market both are from reputable sellers and both have the same asking price and both complete with papers & box : 1. 2008 excellent condition but never been serviced. It has the GENEVA SEAL which some collectors find it desirable because Patek started using their own seal in 2009 . Never serviced but nothing to fix. 2. 2012 near mint and serviced last year by Patek SERVICE CENTER. Which of the two offers would you choose? Thank you in advance for your input |

I’d probably go for the newer one with a more recent service.

Get the newer one, there is so much hype surrounding this watch already, unless its a tiffany dial, I say get the newest one you can get your hands on

Do you mean you’d prefer the older one if it’s a Tiffany dial? I think I’ve read elsewhere that other people also give this dial a preference. Why is that? For me personally I wouldn’t want to have some other brand’s logo on the dial of my watch, especially if it’s something as special as a Patek! |

They are more rare and hold value better since tiffany does not discount. On a non hot watch you lose more money with a T dial because you paid more to acquire it than you could from a regular AD. complicated pieces in particular that sell way under list at AD's.

That’s a good point I guess it depends on the positioning and the size of the Tiffany text, it might be ok. |

Personally i think it looks great on a 5711, 5980, 5726, and the aquanauts. I still probably wouldn't buy a watch just because of it though.
