So, If you were going to live with just one of the above watches which one would you choose? Imagine that they both cost the same.

I for my part would take the SS GMT II for the following reasons:

1) Being an SS, it is less proned to getting scratched up by daily wear simply because SS is harder than gold. Also, the ceramic bezel is virtually scratchproof.

2) The GMT II would go with EVERY clothes, yet the TT Blue Sub would not.

3) Having SOLID centre links and the new clasp with the hidden "Easy Extension" link, the bracelet of the new GMT II is much better made than that of the TT Blue Sub.

hmmmmm....I would have to say tt sub. Of my watches it sees the most wrist time.

GMT without question. The Blue is too bling for me. The GMT is infinitely more useful.

Tough choice but I voted for the GMT - new case, bracelet/clasp, maxi dial. The TT is great, but just a bit too bling with the gold

I owned a 2004 TT Blue faced Submariner, then a 2006 TT Yachtmaster, and now the 2007 TT GMT II C.

I dumped the submariner because the lume was too weak, and I check my watch in the dark several times a night. Here's my take:

Some major differences in my mind that make the GMT II C a better watch unless you are actually going to use it as a dive watch below 100 metres:

LUME - best lume on any Rolex I've owned, including oddly my former Yachtmaster which also had the Maxi-Dial. Rolex has changed something here because the charged watch remains visible all night, including the second hand.

BRACELET - much heavier clasp, better designed, with mini-extension (not enough for a wet suit-but enough to have a salty margarita on a summer's day.

BEZEL - ceramic bezel is allegedly scratch proof. Some dummy on the plane yesterday banged the metal foot of his computer bag against the bezel, and whether it's luck or the ceramic, there is no mark anywhere.

LATEST AND GREATEST - I don't know whether the 3186 movement with the Parachrome Bleu hairspring means anything or not, but Rolex seems to think the watch will be even more anti-magnetic, and impervious to changes in temperature. Who knows?

PRESENCE - tie. Both wear with great presence on the wrist, and if you like the blue it is beautiful. The black is more classic and usable all of the time.

Oh, man. Can't decide. Love them both! My SS Sub fulfills the steel/black color requirement very well, but the GMT II is radically cool. The bezel does it, JMHO. On the other hand, the gold of the Sub sets that blue off so well, especially in the sunlight. Wow.
