If they’re not greedy out of the gate with pricing and APR and loyalty to existing Ford owners, they’ll do fine.

If they do what many manufacturers before have done and focus short term, it’s DOA.

Jeep won’t give up market share without a fight.

I’m a Jeep enthusiast, been driving Wranglers for 25+ years. A 2020 Rubicon Unlimited is my daily driver, and I wouldn’t entertain the thought of getting this vehicle over a Jeep Wrangler. But... I’m a ford fan as well. If you ask me which pickup truck I’ll buy before any other .....Ford F150 or F250

I think they are going directly after the wrangler and wrangler unlimited markets- there has been a crazy surge in the number I see on the roads lately. I think it’s a smart move and if it’s a solid design IMO there is a place for it in the market longer term. I have always loved the late 60’s model and this one definitely took its styling cues from the original.

This must be a very American thing. Here in Italy (but I suspect that this is true for other European countries too) literally NO ONE will EVER pay a single Euro over MSRP for a car.

I like the design but will need to see it in person for size and quality. Not interested in the first few years as typically they have to work out the bugs. Other than being new I do not see how it displaces the Jeep but time will tell.

The Jeep Gladiator was talked about for a decade, then produced, sold out, demand met, and now the lots are full of them below MSRP.
I'm alright with that - I can wait a year or so for mine

If the 4Runner and wrangler are any indication it will sell well. SVT version would be awesome.

The Gladiator comment is spot on. A Taco or Ranger or Colorado are 90% for much less money and better reliability.

I think Ford will learn from it.

It seems like what the new Land Rover Defender should have been, I see a side by side analysis in my future.
Full reveal next week. Larger 2 and 4 door model based on the Ranger fame and a smaller 4D Sport based on the Escape. Photo is the bigger 4 door. Seems a little bigger than a 4d Jeep.
Dr. Brian, I was wondering myself how much the Defender and Bronco would have in common with the prior Ford/LR relationship. Feel like they had to have both been in discussion for years and maybe even during the common ownership years. You're absolutely right, this is what the Defender should have been more like! Also, IMO at least the Defender is what the new Discovery should've been! Ford does a great job with the Raptor line as well.

I'm just glad LR is still making a solid full RR that is capable. Though that was developed under the Ford years

CJ, I'm with you this new Bronco is a winner

I'm excited guys. I think there is actually of plenty of room in the market for both. Not enough true trucks out there in this space anymore. LR went the electronic way and G Wagons are just ridiculously priced nowadays. Ford and Jeep know the market well imho.

Jeeps are all show, and a really rough go, they look great and drive like... only mildly improved chit. JMHO if these are a viable highway car with good off road capabilities I'm a customer.

2021 Ford Bronco

Had potential. Bummed it’s not based on the F-150 frame, like the previous generation was. I’ve been driving an F-150 for so long that it’s difficult to downsize to what is essentially a smaller truck with a covered bed.

I might reconsider downsizing (slightly) for the Rivian R1T, however.

The wife has a Wrangler. I can not stand it. I'm sure that Ford can do better.

The problem is that it's not the engineers in charge, it's the marketing guys and the accountants.

I think they should have made the toughest short wheelbase 2 door suv they could with modern styling. That thing would have sold out consistently. There’s a reason Jeep is all over the road.

Unfortunately that’s not what I believe Ford did. Bummer for all of us that own Ford stock.

I haven’t been happy with any of Fords truck or suv line up for years. They’ve lost touch with their base and made trucks and suvs that are not even designed to see anything other than a paved surface. Hence my owning a 1997 f-250 with a 7.3 and a 1990 Bronco Eddie Bauer.

It’s so prevalent the downward spiral Ford has taken to me because for every 15 Chevrolet or GMC I see on jobsites I see maybe 1 Ford.

When comparing the two me thinks looks are not the only difference. I could be wrong but cost and market segment was the other consideration and more than likely the biggest consideration.

It looks like pretty much all the rumors were true. That looks like a cool ride, and the Jeep dealers are probably getting a bit nervous. It should force the immediate update of the 4Runner as well. Will it be reliable?
How does it ride on the highway? That’s the other question. The wrangler is a bit of a dog on the street.
“You need a Bronco!”
Maybe I do?

4-banger turbo or V-6 w/twin turbos ...................... keep your local rollback driver contact information handy when the warranty expires !

Aesthetics are spot on ........ except for the JC Whitney/Walmart inspired fender flares.

Meanwhile, Jeep introduces the 392 Hemi Wrangler.
