My Rolex DJ 36mm (116234)

Hello

I'm going to try and give a non-biased review on my new Rolex DJ 36mm in SS on Jubliee bracelet.

As some may know, I recently bought this watch (around 1 week ago) its early days as of yet, but I feel I have been with the watch for long enough to get a 'sence' of how it wears with daily use.. As with any Rolex watch, they are engineered to perfection, there are so many different variations/models yet Rolex always pull it of and remain iconic and loyal to earlier models, like the Porsche 911, always evolving, yet ellegantly classic with a modern contempory twist.

The Case and Bracelet finishing...

The combination of polished centre links, shoulders, case sides and fluted bezel against the brushed outer links, gives the watch a certain 'glimmer' and 'luster', all of this combined, looking at the watch from a far, its very distinguishable.

Under close up inspection, the quality of the finish is perfection.

The dial..

The white that Rolex use, is exactly that, its WHITE, very WHITE.. I think of it as an ice white or porcelain white, a versitile 'colour' which I think resembles purity/freshness.

The bezel...

The fluted white gold bezel catches the light beautifully, the light bounces off and dances around its 'diamond cut' facets.

The Clasp...

Concealed, hidden, comfortable and very much so bracelet like.. with a 36mm case size, the clasp is perfectly balenced and in proportion with the rest of the watch.

I hope you enjoyed my mini review.. yeaa the 'non-biased' thing, well...

THANKS FOR READING!

A well written and great review Dino, thank you for sharing my friend! If you want my honest opinion I think you chose your watch very well and if you keep it long enough I am sure you will love the patina on that white dial.

P.S.: Biased, your thread? Naahhh...

...Perhaps...

...It definitely was but it was great anyway!

Nice review.

I always planned on getting a DJII and I've never even seen a DJ up close.

I always assumed that 36mm would be too small but your pictures have changed that. I've seen some pictures of you with a DJII on and it wasn't exactly massive on you. The DJ is a classic and I am very interested to see how it looks on me. I know everyone's wrist is different but I'll check it out.

When I was in an AD way back. I made the mistake of asking the sales guy if he thought the DJ would be too small for me and he said "yeah deffo mayte". Looking back I remember disliking the IWC he had on because it was way too big for him.

Thank you my friend The DJII is a beautiful watch, and it was a close call between that and the 36mm. In the end I opted for the 36 because it sits very comfortably on the wrist, and it can be worn effortlessly, I've been used to a Sub-C and GMTIIc, downsizing to the DJ 36mm was not an issue, it fits perfectly! I wouldn't disuade you from a 41mm DJII, they are absolutely stunning.. But I would encourage you to go out and try on a 36mm.. Final tip.. (Never listen to the guy at the AD)...

Thanks!!

Agree completely. The DJ is on my radar as it stands already, a 2-3mm bump in size and it would be on my wrist.

Great review...

Thanks for the review. I too bought this same model with a blue dial last week, it went from the box to my wife's wrist, and I haven't seen it since. The quality, fit and feel of this model is amazing.

I think every Rolex collector should own one of these, the pre-owned price point makes this watch a good value...

Good review, I agree with your observations. For the record, I purchased a 116234 about two weeks ago - SS, WG fluted bezel, jubilee bracelet and...Roman numerals on a rhodium dial. I love the look, and your TT with Romans on white is beautiful, the white dial suits it best. Enjoy!

That is the exact watch that I am going to purchse on next week (provided that something is confirmed). I have other good quality watches like Breguet, Breitling and Hublot but the reality is that I usually use quite regular Casio or Skagen daily. This is a milestone that I want to highlight and for some reason I want to wear the watch more often than the previous “good” ones, after extensive research I am convinced that I want this exact model with roulette date, money is not much a problem in this milestone and I was considering the WG or PT DD but I really like more the lean crisp view of the DJ white dial with stick markers, apart from that I think that I feel more comfortable wearing not such high price watch.
