Buy it. MSRP is a good price and Sub No Date is a classic piece. Hard to go wrong with it. But if you want it, act fast...as I imagine someone else on their list would be more than happy to pick it up.

Instead of asking for a discount, perhaps ask if they will throw in an accessory at no cost (winder, watch roll, Rolex swag, etc).

Just buy it it’s from AD and a superb watch plus you have peace of mind - you’ll be keeping it for many years to come if that’s your intention get it if it isn’t then don’t

Buy the watch/Keep all the paperwork organized, You can always sell it as the 1st owner w/papers to a 2nd buyer; very difficult to buy a watch with actual receipts and paper trail on the secondary market; good investment!

From an AD it's a buy all day if cash isn't an issue.

Any future potential discounts you're looking at grey really, which brings its own issues up.

I say go for it. 5% wouldn't prevent me from buying. It's nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I'll say this. I wouldn't not buy it because of 5%.

This would be great case study in this market for us all right now. If you want to be the guinea pig...?? Mention your wife said you shouldn't be spending money on a luxury right now. (likely true?) She only will approve if you get 10% off.. Maybe you'll get 5%.. If you get rejected, just buy a used one. I bought four used watches and one new. Sold two of the used watches for a nice profit. Your going to wear it and ding it anyway..

How are ADs even open these days? They aren’t an essential business

In the current market you should buy this model at retail if you really want it.

You might miss out if you ask for $375 off.

Do you really care?

Sub 114060 For MSRP

Buy it. You won’t receive a discount. There are still hundreds of people I’m sure your AD can call that will pay full price just 10 mins after you chose not to buy. Even given this economic climate. I mean it doesn’t hurt to ask but if they say no do not wait

Cheers

Lots of ADs are still getting backlogged shipments and selling remote / shipping product.

I think they'd hang up on me here in Sydney if I asked for a discount on a Sub! YMMV.

If you want to build your relationship with these guys in the future I’d buy it. Two things here. They’re probably hurting and I think it’d be not very classy to ask for a discount first time in, secondly, like some one already said they may never ever call you again. Just for the fact of hitting them when they’re down. Plus they probably have many other clients waiting. My AD is a small family owned jewelry store they make most of their money on rings and other things, besides Rolex. I wouldn’t dream of hitting them whilst they’re down and hurting.
If it was a regular business climate and I’ve bought some things from them yea I’d ask.

I get what you're trying to say, but still....5-10% off on a 30%+ margin still has them making (a lot of) money. Some of you guys act like they're no longer profiting by discounting which is far from the truth. Absolutely no harm in trying to get the best deal possible, potential win-win for both parties.

I don't really get this buttering up mentality some of you have with luxury watch ADs. Do you act the same at a car dealership and not ask for a better deal? What about on a house, just refuse to put in an offer? These are business situations, there's absolutely no foul nor harm to try and get a slight discount or at least asking. If you do this with respect there is no issue whatsoever and the worst they can say is no. I mean, a white dial Daytona, yes, that would be laughable to try and garner a discount at this point in time, but a no date sub? They really weren't difficult to find even at the peak of this madness....

In 2 months, they may very well be more likely to offer discounts, however there’s someone out there today that will undoubtedly buy that watch at full retail. They probably won’t give you any discount simply cause they can make 5 phone calls after you and one will bite.

If you want the watch, best to buy it right away. If you want to save a few hundred dollars, wait it out. I’m not so sure you’ll be able to get one easily from an AD but in a couple
Months I bet there’s a lot more preowned pieces for sale online.

+1. Op, it's a few hundred dollars, does it really matter? You either want the watch or you don't. If the difference in price is significant to you, you shouldn't be buying that watch.

So many people in this hobby care less about watches and more about getting deals.

Hi all,

Thanks for all your replies! I have come to the decision that I truly want the watch and will not let this 5% stop me from getting it.

I've spoken to the AD and we've agreed he'd hold it for me and that I'll be paying MSRP for it. I felt like I shouldn't be stingy in times like this, especially since they are letting me come in to check it out before purchasing.

Will post a pic once I get it!!
