Icon20 GMT CHNR Grey price getting outta hand!

I am looking around the grey market and price for an unworn two-tone CHNR rootbeer is 5k to 6k over msrp before taxes, this is insane. You all better grab one if available before they became too popular!

As priced in ________ and what is happenng that there's so much of it available that 'valuations' are being skewed?

Rolex, and many other manufcturers/brands, are victums of... so please don't blame Rolex, FP Journe, etc.

Passed on one the other day at the AD. Nice watch, but rose gold is not for me. The wait continues.

Just get it brand new. Walk into your local Rolex authorized jewelry store. Tell them you want a CHNR and you’ll put down a $1,000 refundable deposit. You’ll have it before Xmas, if not sooner.

Also I think the gold version that was discontinued both two tone and full gold (all 3 variations total) where much better looking.

I miss the days when you could walk in to an AD and they pretty much had every model on display for sale at MSRP. I could walk through a mall and the sub date was just chillin' in the window. Now even the AD I have dealt with has gone to selling the the desirable watches at grey pricing and none are in the show cases. They are all in a tray in the safe. I know this cuz he brought out a Hulk, Sub date, sub, and SD43. He just rings them up differently so it doesn't look like anything funny is going on.

I think I'm good right here pointing out these ridiculous posts that have nothing to do with enjoying a watch and what used to be a great hobby. I don't think we need daily posts of what one person found when they are searching for prices or to give a random pointless update on grey dealer pricing (i.e "hey look what DavidSW put up today and the ridiculous price").

I think davidsw is getting ahead of the market on this one. The chnr is not worth 20k

I'm holding out for msrp from ad

It's a nice looking watch for sure. I would not go gray above retail but if one became available at an AD it would be hard to pas it up. I think the color combo is great!

The 126711 CHNR is the first-ever Rolex to feature a black and chocolate dial. I believe it’s also the first-ever rose gold two-toned Rolex.

It’s a significant watch in Rolex’s history and already is a classic. These prices make sense.

Hardly name calling and seems a reasonable assessment of your post.

Curious though how does pointing out to the world the current 'insane' high price of grey CHNRs and encouraging everyone to buy one (before they become too popular) help you to acquire one?

Hmmm...happened already?

These aren’t hard to find at AD’s at least in my area. No reason to pay over msrp.

NOPE to BOTH your inaccurate statements.

It's a recent watch so by no means a classic. Prices don't make sense at all actually but to those who cannot wait or have fomo or like reading threads like this will happily pay over MSRP. Two tones are actually have historically weak pricing and can easily be obtained for UNDER MSRP.

Actually doing better today, less smoke in the air I can sort of breath maybe take a walk later for first time recently, thanks for asking.

If you are serious about the watch just wait some more and the prices should eventually stabilize to MSRP and maybe even below. As other members posted you can also just ask for one and place a deposit. Just think back to the older TT YG GMT (116713) and how easily they were acquired for under MSRP. TT is not for everyone and doesn't do well historically so everything is in your favor.

OK. In your post after this statement you state ‘Two tones are actually have historically weak pricing and can easily be obtained for UNDER MSRP’. If your concerned about other forum members talking about pricing why comment about it? Quite hypocritical

GMT CHNR Grey price getting outta hand!

Got one offered last weekend at retail
by my AD, had to pass as was not ready for it. They already sold it; keep looking as they are available, don’t pay crazy high grey pricing!
