Actually....now that I look, the full gold Root Beer has gone up now. You used to be able to find one for $35k or so....looks like $38-39k at least is what it will run you now. This is just from March.

The darkest hour is just before the dawn!
Inflation is striking hard in the US. A lot of dumb money out there .. The market is preparing for a messy correction. |

If you think the market can only go in one direction - straight up - fine .. By the market correction I meant on a stock market which in turn will bring down the inflated prices of the Rolex watches on a grey market or make them more readily available at the local AD without long waiting lists .. |

I'm not remotely bothered about the fluctuating cost or value of luxury gods providing they are adequately insured, but since you seem to know about this area, and my curiosity is up, can you point me to a peer reviewed published paper which demonstrates this? |

Dumb is a bit harsh. I would say that the Rolex bubble is never gonna burst. Too many people with the money to afford one combined with supply that is carefully controlled.

https://www.ft.com/content/c8b172e2-...1-423e9a4b6839 Some will say - who cares, those affected by the recession were not the Rolex buyers anyway .. Not so sure about that .. I don't think we will see much of the grey market price collapse, rather the availability improvement at the local AD due to upcoming inflation and recession. Unless, this whole situation is created straight from Rolex and they are cutting the supply. |

I think his point is that a bear market in stocks would result in a reduction in discretionary luxury brand spending. Don't think you need a peer reviewed paper to acknowledge that.

I guess it depends on how many people have cash waiting in the wings to pounce once inventory becomes more readily available.

I'm 100% decided that this is the next piece in my collection .. now comes the fun part -- finding one at the right price ..
my take on the recent price increase is that its driven by the recent rolex release. prices on this piece should come back down to june levels soon i hope .. i'd have no problem paying $16k for this watch .. but they want 18k right now.. i might be wrong and miss my chance -- but i doubt it. if someone can help me get one from an AD let me know. |

This watch should trade above the pepsi/batgirl. I fully expect a price increase in gold watches with the recent rise in gold prices. my guess 5-10%.

I personally can't speak to the future values of any brands as I have not been collecting long enough, nor have researched price trends.
I can say that a few brands/models seem to actually be good investments for the moment. And since they will likely keep rising, I doubt they will fall hard enough to be losers at any time, aside from maybe a few which currently sell for double msrp. Those might take a hit imho. I'd also say a watch is worth what someone is willing to pay. To me it seems that number is rising not only on the "usual suspects" (great movie am I right ?) but also pm watches more broadly. I am also willing to put money on most of the new colorful rollies sitting on shelves. I would guess they already made too many of those and they don't sell out before the next run. There ! |

Um...OK? They are worth whatever the common selling prices are. I've been tracking the TT and full RG since they came out. Bottom line is the price went up....whether you like it or you don't. People are paying these prices....whether you like it or you don't. The Hulk is going up and up because PEOPLE ARE PAYING THE PRICE.
