I know this is an old thread..with excellent info..but I was wondering if it worth getting a 1979́sh Rolex with the 3035 (I believer) vs a newer watch with the 3135 movement.
I saw a 1979 DT with 18k President bracelet that Im considering. What do you think. tia

Interesting that he still preferred the ETA movement. I think the 3135 has stood the test of time now, I wonder when this article was written and if he still sticks to his conclusions. Also, it's well known by now that every Rolex goes through rigorous testing before leaving the factory, so I am surprised that he was somewhat skeptical of the shock absorbers. If the brand new Sea Dweller was $5K when the article was written, I assume the article is pretty old. Great pics and detailed information, thanks for posting even if it was a longn time ago.
