Paris hotel recommendations

Planning to take my wife over to Paris on the Eurostar for three nights in November as its both our birthdays that month, can anyone recommend a nice 4-5* hotel for us to stay in?

It will be our first break on our own since our daughter was born so looking for somewhere romantic, in a nice area to do some up market shopping and grabbing a bite to eat.

Depends on budget, and I'm sure that you'll get many fine suggestions.

My personal favorite, the Ritz, just finished a 4-year $450M renovation and is arguably the most famous hotel in the world's most romantic city.

You could also go to Paris on the Oriental Express.

Ritz is amazing but don't discount air BnB. There are some amazing Paris apartments that are far nicer than a hotel room. Nothing stops you eating and drinking at the ritz

I'd second the Ritz. It recently reopened after a 4 year renovation but i would be afraid to see how much a room costs now.

It was obnoxiously expensive when I stayed there in 2008.

I stayed at 7Eiffel and it was okay for me, but very small and "cheap" for Paris standards. Cheap to them was still a fortune to me, at 300 a night.
A few hundred yards from Louvre and the Tower, smack in the middle.

Thanks guys but think I may need to drop my * rating after speaking to my wife she thinks we are mad as we don't plan on using the hotel for anything more then sleeping to budget around £500-£600 per night is OTT but that's pocket change to some of those prices are

Guessing as its we will be out and about all day and evening I really just need to not worry so much about the hotel as long as it's nice and clean in a decent area somewhere to rest our heads.

Budget wise I'm now thinking more in the region of £250-£300 per night

A friend has recommend the Francois 1er which comes in well within budget.

The Pelinsula, Paris

Your dollar doesn't go far. I really liked the hotel but when a more six style hotel in a good location goes for $300-400 a night. The rate I got at the Pelinsula was quite more expensive. If your budget allows for it it's a very nice hotel.

Poor OP asks for a decent 4-5 star hotel and the suggestions are George V, Ritz, Four Seasons, Oriental Express!!! May as well throw in Mandarin and for the hell of it Shangri La!!

We stayed at the Hotel Marignan last September.

http://www.hotelmarignanelyseesparis.com/en/

It's not the Ritz but was very centrally located, views of the Eiffel Tour from our room, and the accommodations were very nice as were the staff. I would definitely go back.

Francois 1er is good. On the other hand, Hotel Scribe, by SOFTIES, next to Place Opera, is very good. Prices are reasonable and its across the street from Galleries Lafayette so you can easily have access to all the shopping and restaurants there and also the area has a lot shopping other than Lafayette.

Bonus: there is a Bacherer store across the street. It is one of the largest luxury watches store in France. They have Rolex, A.Lange & Sφhne, Audemars Piguet, Baume & Mercier, Blancpain, Breguet etc...

x2 for airbnb. hotels in paris are not the utilities they once were if you're an explorer type and want to feel localized.

daily market shopping. 4hr coffee bars. perfect location choices. explore the site.

Take a look at Hotel New Orient. Not super luxe but comfortable in a very good neighborhood near the metro and lots of shopping and food options. It's very Parisian and well run.

Don't blow all your money on hotels in Paris, we usually pick one from the "Timotel" chain. (4) star but just as much 4star as a manhattan 4-star is....

If you spend time at your hotel in Paris, you're doing it wrong.
