44mm Steel, or titanium?

I posted about getting a 15500 or a 44mm Offshore as a first AP a few days ago. Thanks for the advice all. Decided to get a 44mm. Fits me well and love the look.

I'd prefer to go pre-owned if I can find one in good condition. Deciding between either Titanium, or the out of production steel with white/silver dial and black sub dial.

I've only seen the titanium in person. Which I love, but the high contrast between the ceramic bezel and dial on the steel seems lovely...albeit only in photos.

Anybody have experience with both? Seems the steel can be had for a better price as well. Although given the age I'm likely looking at a service on most of them.

I personally went with the 44 Ti and continue to really enjoy wearing it regularly. I had also tried on the steel case/white dial version as well. While I think it also looks great, the Ti was my favorite.

Either will be a winner for you I think. It will just come down to which one puts a bigger smile on your face whilst wearing it.

I really like grey and light watches so the Ti is the winner for me. You can make a damn good argument the SS and 4k in your pocket is the better move though and I won't argue.

Talking up my book but I prefer the steel. Black rubber, white rubber, gp strap, they all work well. Not so of Ti.

My initial reaction was steel all the way. Love the look and contrasting subdial and bezel. And they seem to be able to be had at $21k, whereas the Ti is more around $24ish, which is a big positive.

Why was the steel so much less popular? Is there something in person that turned people off that doesn't translate in pictures?

Between those two, I prefer the TI (though prefer the CE to either)

It’s just older. Offshores don’t really hold up that well because AP drops new colorways each year. People generally like the new ones.

Also the Ti has a bit of a “poor mans” schumi thing going on.

A big benefit of Ti version in the (lower) weight.

I prefer the steel over the ti, I prefer the contrast between the dial & ceramic bezel and also the many strap options will keep this watch feeling like a different watch each time you change the strap. This is only my opinion but the ti, looks quite dark when it’s on the black rubber, it looks good on white rubber though. The grey look of the watch means that it won’t suit all skin tones especially pale skin.

Not sure why it wasn't so popular as the Panda dial is attractive and prized, I think maybe because the 42s were predominantly SS and the 44s offered more exotic choices so maybe those were preferred.

I have the steel version. I got it specifically for the dial and love the contrast with the bezel especially in the sun
