I definitely wouldn't for a 36. Now, for a DD40, maybe a one for one swap.

As far as the DJ being a wedding gift...I get that. However, think of it like this. When my wife and I got a little more established after we had been married about 10 years, I took her engagement ring and made it into a pendant necklace sort of thing and bought her a much larger stone for the actual ring.

I think you could do the same thing with your DJ...trade it along with one of your steel models for the DD of your dreams. The DJ is still kind of in there, if you look at it the right way.

You can buy a pre quick dateset DD for 10K. Vintage SS Subs maybe start at 10k depending on your definition of vintage. Therefore, DD is probably the best value for your money in the vintage market. Given the crazy prices for SS, a DD is not a bad idea.

I would only consider this trade for a modern DD and most probably only a DD40.

I would do it. To me PM will always worth more than SS. The conception that gold will always loose value is in my mind incorrect IF you buy a pre-loved DD at the right price.

Don’t know which DD 36 you have in mind but a spot in the DD club is open for you!
