Hacking issue?

Posted this in the General Discussion forum, but thought it might get more traction in this forum...

Hadn't worn my GMT Master II in a while and yesterday when setting the time, I noticed my watch wasn't hacking consistently in the 3rd position. Sometimes it hacks, sometimes it needs a very slight turn to start hacking. I don't remember it ever being like this. Watch is only 4 months old.

Anyone else experience this? Thanks in advance.

Does it feel like it's blocked when pulling out to the 3rd position?

If that is the case then don't worry, it is actually quite common for these movements to have the 3135-250 pinions block each other, they should smoothly engage when engaging the third position but sometimes the teeth hit each other on the head.

Happens to me once in 25 movements orso, even when replacing the parts or adding extra lubrication it sometimes still happens. No clue why.

I know what you’re referring to, but it’s not that. I can fully engage into the 3rd position, but sometimes I need to turn the crown slightly in either direction for the second hand to actually hack.

Super common, usually it ends up being a lubrication issue.

Thanks. Do you think I can wait until service time to deal with it (5-10 years)...or should it be addressed now?

If this is the only problem then I'd leave it for now.

Your call. I would wait if it doesn't bother you.

The tooth profiles are such that they can hit dead on and lock against each other.
