Very interesting responses.

The emotions are very interesting as well.

CC to get my points and these days the only discount. Then pay off before next statement.

These days I wouldn’t by a watch through finance, but a few years back I did so I’m not the one to judge. If you can get a 0% interest and pay it off in a couple of months then I see it as manageable risk.
But remember it is a unnecessary luxury item and not a investment.

I walked in with a bunch of 100's. Handed them to the man and got my Daytona. It was one of the proudest moments of my life outside of being a father and getting married.

I bought all my watches with cash, never ever finance for me.

Stock market profits, never ever on credit for luxury items.

Paid cash. My personal rule with any luxury item is that if I can't afford it in cash, I don't buy it. Considered financing a new motorcycle earlier this year and realized I have a damn nice one, paid off, sitting in the garage. Same with watches, even if it's 0% financing - If the funds aren't in my possession, I haven't earned it yet.

Haha I did same with 50’s! Kept them in a lunch box for transport, apple on top, totally undercover. But it felt good to walk out with that brand new, still stickered watch!

The only time I walked the streets with so much money. Need to start saving for that DD36 I want otherwise it will be the last time I ever did :(

Credit card for extra protection and points, pay it off the following month, unless it's 0%, then I'll make sure I pay it off before the end of the promotional period.

But again, I'll only be buying it if I have the cash equivalent sitting around.
I'll also occasionally sell a watch to raise funds as I'm trying to reduce the unworn watches languishing in the box...

I turn up to my office job every single day, bust my balls every single day and come payday squirrel away a few hundred £ per month. Eventually I'll have enough to purchase the Rolex I want. Good things do come to those who wait and it makes the inane nonsense I have to listen to on a daily basis a little less painful.

I got my first Sub on 0% but I had the money and ended up paying it off after a couple of months. All others cash.

Don't finance your watch, just save a little every month and buy it when you can.

Purchase on CC for the points (unless seller is making a cash deal worth it; this is not the case at my AD though) then pay off immediately.

Likewise - there was no discount for paying in actual cash so thought I might as well get the Avios points and then immediately pay it off!

I save, and once I have the funds in the bank I go looking, I use my CC, get the points and pay the CC off with the money in the bank. I have a collection of 3 (2 Rolex 1 PAM) which will reduce to a single Rolex in 5 years or so, by then, I'll hopefully get my money back for the 2 that depart, or, if I'm really lucky, I'll make a little extra.

The plan for my PAM is to be traded within the next year ... I have not decided on which Rolex it will be traded for yet, and thats the fun part.

I still have both student loan and mortgage, so I guess I finance my watches and anything else with debt. However I still consider myself in a good financial position. I got a pile of cash, only a tiny pile but still a pile. I invest this money and at the moment I also live on the return from these investments. However I will most likely go back to work again within the next 6-12 months if I finds something that looks fun. But as long as that pile is growing, I take a chunk from the pile and buys myself something nice every now and then.
