What is crazy is that is not that unusual for a Patek. I seem to remember seeing one somewhere in the millions!

It must have some historical significance, I don't find it particularly appealing. Now a Patek 5070, that I love! ;-)

I would say that anyone who is willing to spend 65K on watch probably does not really need to think about what he/she could get for that amount of money as he/she probably has everything they could possibly need or want. All in all, price is not an issue.

In the world of horology, $65K is not even close to the top of the food chain.

You should see the prices of breguet watches. that's the reason why i believe that rolex are the cheapest luxury watches but yet they have a superb quality

that is imo correct

besides, that 65K Patek is a bargain.
In that case we're talking about art, not watches.

65K for a 2 counter vintage chronograph is really not expensive (it might be a lot for me but for that watch it is a fair price)

Rolexes are indeed pretty cheap compared to the real high end Patek, Vacheron, Lange , ...
But those others are in a much higher league.

Besides, when interested in expensive high end watches, check out www.antiquorum.com

this is the most extreme

http://catalog.antiquorum.com/catalo...&auctionid=165

1.240.000 USD ;)
