help reorganize the collection - 5167?
getting a litle bit bored with my collection and after adding a 5980, been trying to find reason to get another Patek. I'm quite sure already that my red sub, AP ROO Ti, and the Patek chrono will be for keeps. I'm looking to flip a PAM194 subzilla and an IWC Ingeneiur 3227.
What do you guys think? Would the aquanaut be a worthy addition (I know this is a Patek forum!)? Less is more, quality than quantity? Signs of getting old (over 40 now). I'm still inclined with sports watches though and these 4 watch rotation will keep me happy for the time being. Need help. Watch nut alert! |

I like the aquanaut, but going in reverse from a 47mm godzilla to a 40mm? - my hats off to you!
I wish the aquanaut and other round case Pateks were in the 42mm range...that would probably make me join the club...one day! |

i'd say the aquanaut would round off the collection nicely
too smart to be a true sportswatch and too casual to be a dressy so good middleground watch looking in the PP section here it's the most common ref but out in the wild they are very rarely spotted i don't like anything from Richemont, so get rid of the PAM and the IWC (although the ingenieur is nice..) better to have one good pair of shoes than a few bad ones

An Aquanaut ...
Would be nice, with a simple complication of 5167 and its movement is similar to the 5711, whose appearance is almost similar to the 5980 without the bullseye chrono and the pushers on the side.
I agree that once you go Patek, it is hard to stay with one piece only. You will miss your only Patek 5 years down the road once you send it for service. Hence, I agree that you should seek another one since you will never go wrong with a Patek IMHO. However, my recommendation is to look at your collection parameter and go for the piece that is missing. Example: do you have an annual calendar, a GMT? Maybe you should go for a 5726 or 5205/5146 or a 5130 or 5164? Just my 2cents.

I have a 5712G and a 5167 and they both get a lot of wrist time. the 5167 is a great watch that you can wear with jeans or a suit. My only hesitation would be if I had my time over again whether I would go for a 5164 instead. Tough call as it would mean selling off a PAM 233 and a Rolex GMTIIc.

If that's the one you want, then go for it.
It's only worth it, if you want it. I did, and it was worth it to me.
