I agree. Most global indices are at or close to all time highs. Hang Sen a bit off, but most investors have generally had several good years. I can’t see a sudden rush to sell these pieces until there’s a significant movement in global stock markets. I can’t say there’s a direct causation here but I believe there is a correlation.

We all have a tipping point when it comes to what we will pay...Mine is MSRP on a Nautilus yours might be double that.

Tom posted out a dealer with a good reputation in Dubai who has one BNIB for well under 70k ... it’s there for the taking if you want it. Good luck.

I almost bought a used one in 2016 for $24k, but I had to travel to make the deal and the buyer would not wait the two weeks I needed to make the trip.

Then in 2018 I gave in like the OP and went gray for a premium, crazy... but looking at today's prices I'm glad I did it.

Will the bubble ever burst? More likely than not, will I care, maybe not.

I have worn and enjoyed the watch, hard to say if the person with the MSRP equivalent in the bank account has enjoyed it as much as I have.

To each their own, if you want it and can afford it, go for it and don't listen to anybody but you.

For the record, in case Santa Claus is reading this, I would pay above MSRP for a new 5711. But it would have to be the new caliber 330 SC and no way would I ever consider paying close to the obscene premiums being asked in the grey market.

If I eventually get one I’ll be thrilled to wear it. But it won’t change my life. It’s just a really nice watch and I already consider myself very fortunate to own a few other really nice watches and to be a participant in this craziness. It’s just a hobby or slight obsession that I really enjoy, but it never causes me to lose sleep.

Last I checked they were going for around 60K-ish. Chrono24 is always more than marketprice for a watch.

When I get home, going to give my 5990 a rigorous shake, there will be all sorts of crookedness going on after that, so probably worth a cool mil!!

I always find these sorts of questions and replies very insightful yet at the same time utterly worthless.
I’ve read thousands of similar threads on Ferrarichat over the years.
Always breaks down to several camps:
Do it.
Don’t do it.
Do what you want.
And no insight is usually obtained. A psychology researcher would have a field day on these sorts of forums; they probably do write papers about it.

As I am sure all are aware: money is relative. In a world where some consider spending tens to hundreds of millions of USD on paintings, and some work three jobs to put food on the table we must all realize that there is no “universal standard.”

I fall into the camp of “do want you want,” but the fact someone is asking at all tells me to recommend “don’t do it.”

Try to look for trusted dealer here in Indonesia. Here price of Nautilus is falling apart. Most dealer sell around 60k. Wait till next year. It probably hit 50k

Time will tell... I am always surprised that people seem to find it totally inconceivable that the Nautilus might lose its fashion icon status and popularity again. At some point the in-crowd might just move on to the next big thing as quickly as it jumped on the Nautilus. The masses would follow with some time lag, demand and secondary pricing would drop, and the 5711/1A would be back to what it has been for most of its lifespan, a very nice 3-hand steel watch, still fairly hard to get and trading a little above MSRP.

OC Rolex Guy (Patrick) had one in his shop a few weeks ago for $64k. I believe it’s still there.

You could well be right. What watches has that happened to previously?
