New Nautilus predictions
As expected, since 2021 is the 45th year anniversary of the Nautilus - it is reasonable to predict some changes and/or limited edition models. The discontinuation of the 5711 white last year and 5711 blue this year reconfirms that 2021 will have a new 5711 variant. Some of my predictions and wishes. Put your predictions here!
1) New 5711a variant (3 hander, steel) - Call it the 5745a since its the 45th year anniversary - Steel, 40-42mm dial. Comes in white, blue - Newer clasp, perhaps screwed links - Maybe remove center seconds hand - Date window to match dial (blue) - Some sort of easy-link 5mm extension of clasp 2) 5745J - Yellow gold blue dial and maybe green dial (similar upgrades to above) 3) Limited edition 5745P - Onyx dial in full platinum, diamond indices. Limited to 450 pieces to celebrate the 45th anniversary. 4) 5990R - Full bracelet and strap version 5) 5712R-1A - Full bracelet version |

Let’s hope none of this is correct and they stop some of these references without creating new ones.
There are already way too many nautilus out there. Would be great to see if they focus on other watches

I'm guessing new 5711:
Model #: TBD but 6711 or 5722 (if these are not used already) 1. Same case size 40mm (minor tweaks on the case just to differentiate slightly from the older case). 2. Slightly updated movement 3. Slight change in the hue of the blue with a secondary dial option (black or white). 4. Updated clasp This will likely signify the updates of the 5711R, 5712A, etc. the next year. Other than that, the watch is pretty much the same. Nothing overly dramatic. |

I have always thought the case of the 5711 was one the small and have predicted it will be replaced with one in a larger case. Let's see if this materialize.
I have also thought the blue dial is not really blue, but darker and closer to black-blue. It would be nice if they replaced with a true blue dial. |

I’m really disappointed, the 5711 was perfect and I’m worried they’ll mess up the replacement...

Much higher price to capture some of the differential between MSRP and Gray Market. That's what it would really be about, anyway.

I hope they'll go without a new model for a few years and just replace the 1A by a 1G and/or 1J with blue and/or black dials and possibly with the updated clasp from the 5740.
I would not want it any bigger despite being a tall guy. I'd rather wear a 5800 than a 42mm Nautilus. And I don't understand people asking for an updated movement given it has just been updated in 2019. |

I just don’t know
I’d like: Blue date wheel Screws Better clasp True blue Size unchanged - although I wouldn’t yearn for a 42mm so my head says upsize it |

Lets not forget, not that long ago, in the early 2000s, Patek released the 42mm wg 3700/1g, wouldn't be surpassed if it looks similar to this in SS.

I’m probably in the minority on this but I hope whatever is released goes to mainly to existing Patek clients with strong brand ties (I am not one) and furthermore has no mass market appeal. This would keep the existing clients very happy and not continue on this hype charade.
But it could be poop on a beads of rice bracelet and it would make a huge splash with secondary prices going through the roof. Happy for those with a 5711 and happy for those who get the new release. |

My prediction is that Patek won't replace the 5711 in steel.

Discontinuing the 5711 doesn't mean they will necessarily come up with a 6711.
They might be moving away from producing SS watches, which does make sense making the brand much more exclusive. My guess is that they will take away the SS model /1A and replace it with the 5711r or 5711j. Another interesting thought that occurred to me is the possibility of also discontinuing the 5712/1a and offering it as a full PM model with an introduction of a 5712/1r or 5712/1j. The latter seems like a dim possibility given the recent release of the new blue dial 5726/1a. Just imagine the thought of thinking "Nautilus = PM watches" ... We shall see how things turn out.

Look at how well the entire Nautilus line is selling in PM. So if we take away all SS models in the Nautilus line, it would up the status and exclusivity and keep their brand unique and different to other brands such as AP/Rolex.

They would introduce a black dial Nautilus, either stainless steel, two tone or yellow/rose gold

They'd be crazy to phase out a steel sports watch and cede the market - and awareness - to other brands. Even as unobtanium, it drives people towards the company's other watches.

I cannot see them going to 42mm for a regular piece just now.
If they go up in size its going to be 41mm max. |

My prediction? Patek will discontinue the 5711 and watch secondary values skyrocket. This will cause a massive wave of speculators trying to figure out what's the next reference on the chopping block, and them buying up all things Patek. Patek AD cases will be empty like Rolex, and people will be buying a bunch of Breitlings and Tags just to get allocated a Patek of any kind.
