Daytona 116520

Hi all,

Buying myself an early birthday present and decided on a Daytona. I have a dealer offering me a 2009 unpolished black dial with box and papers for $16,800 including tax and I was wondering if that is a fair deal.

Thanks!

I've seen this watch range all over the place. There are several factors that play into cost

Service history
Condition
All accessories included (all spare links, hang tags, etc)
Location of seller / buyer
Many other factors

Most important is to buy the seller... If a price seems too low in comparison to the market (check the trusted sellers and their listings / other websites) I would take caution. At the end of the day it's a fair price if that's what you're willing to pay.

Yep - don't know 116520 black prices but yes #1 buy the seller and that's a fairly common watch to determine a fair price on as well.

Good luck!

I just pulled a trigger on the 116500 for my Bday! Albeit a few months early

Thanks for the valuable input!

It's actually a local shop I always deal with, so I have a lot of trust in them.

It's a one previous owner watch with all accessories included and had just been serviced

I find that pricing for the 116520 greatly varies based on condition (polished, unpolished, overpolished) and paper/card vs none. Since yours is unpolished and a complete set, I'd say 16.8 is fair. Maybe try to knock down a few more hundreds

Without seeing the watch, that sounds like a great deal.

Thanks guys! The subdials look like this on the model I am getting. I've seen some have bright silver subdials and was wondering if this is due to age or the years released

Unless I am confused, you are posting a link to a watch that is not in stock. You need to share pictures of the watch you are actually trying to purchase.

Sorry! Not really asking about the piece I'm trying to buy as it's not online. I was trying to get an answer on the different colored subdials I've seen on different 116520 models (some darker, some very silver)

I have a K serial 116520 with sub dials that have developed a slight copper hue similar to the one in that photo (just a little more saturated/darker). No idea if that will ever mean much in a collecting sense. It's noticeable but not obstructive or anything.

16.8 sounds reasonable for what you are getting. It's a great watch. One of the most comfortable watches I have ever worn.

Thank you so much for the info! I actually like the darker subdials as they go better with the black dial imo

My experience is that the yellowish/copper color rings on the sub dials are found with the zenith models and early 2000 models. The year you are looking at is not going to change colors anytime soon, if at all. Also, make sure you educate yourself on the changes that have occurred over the years that can be defined by serial. For example, the change of the clasp. Excellent choice, and as mentioned, prices are everywhere. It's a discontinued model that will only continue the rise in price.

Thanks for the info and I definitely will look more into it! I had the white dial a few years ago and sold it. Now I have the chance to get the dial I really want!
