I traveled to the UAE and throughout SEA these last few months and the cupboard is bare. I was told the other day from a slew of AD's that discounting was strictly fixed to single digits on anything that was left. Apparently the mother ship is cutting back on production in which to further expand on a quality over quantity strategy and thereby placing a stranglehold on the grey market.
The general consensus seemed to be no one other than Rolex understands the strategy but that's what it is and we should expect bare shelves for the foreseeable. Of course this is AD speak so should be taken at face value but the theme was consistent throughout.

I visited Tesorini, the AD inside Bellagio and the only SS Sports models they had in stock were the Milgauss, Explorer II, and the Air King.

Was told by the salesman that they are having trouble getting Subs, Yachtmasters and SS Sports in general.

Went to Wynn and was told they also have a similar problem, although not as badly as at Bellagio.

I also called my AD here in Scottsdale who can typically get anything and was told the same thing.

I wonder what is going on.

Well the AD in Tucson is Benbridge Jewelers and they typically have a pretty small Rolex inventory anyways. The economy in Tucson/Southern Arizona doesn't really justify keeping too much stock on hand.

You're welcome. It just goes to show that 4 months later the situation is the same.

Glad I could be of assistance.

The trend seems to be they magically appear if you buy a less popular model. Gone are the days where you can just walk in and walk out with a hulk, probably with a decent discount. And that was less than 2 years ago.

In fairness Rolex have said the sitch will not markedly change this year.

Question is are Rolex further restricting supply or are ADs holding more stock back to barter with, my guess is more of the second.

No doubt, this is a hard one to figure. I remember some years back, my local AD struggling to get SS Subs (pre ceramic days), then things seemed to free up a bit. Never known it as bad as his though. I was fortunate a few months back to land an SD50 from an AD who did not know me, but it was sheer fluke though. No chance it could happen now based upon the current trend. I just hope that at some point Rolex free this situation up and end all the drama! They must know that people are crying out for these!

It's still hit or miss by me, mostly miss but lately ADs seem to be slowly being replinished with some ss models but not so much to be displayed as they are spoken for. Spoke with 3 different ADs in the last week and saw some nice ones that will stay in the coffins
