Panerai on a small wrist?

So, I have been debating on buying a panerai lately, I am deciding between a 312, 351, 359 and 111. The problem is I have the wrist size of a 12 year old girl (I am 23 FYI). Does anyone have any experience with how a 44mm Panerai will fit on a small wrist in terms of size and also long term comfortability? Below is a picture of a 42mm Navi 1461 jours on my wrist for comparison sake.

Those are large models your are contemplating. I would try them on, but should not be issue. You may want to try some of the base models (000, 111, 112) as they tend to wear a little smaller than 312 or 351. 351 is a very light watch, and I would highly recommend it for a smaller wrist over the heavier 312. Also look at 40mm 241. Just some thoughts.

What Paul said I dumped my third 48 and stepped it back up to 44mm. I really wanted an in-house 1950 model. I wouldn't of bought one if it didn't come in Ti. The 312 is nice, but too to heavy in my opinion. I really love my 351. The brushed Ti case, gold hands and tabacco dial are very unique. I can pull it off with my relatively thin 6 3/4" wrists. My wrists are more rounded than flat.

111 as it's manual (and a great first Pam) tends to fit better and is smaller on the wrist then some auto models but will still be big on your wrist,it really comes down to if you want to wear a watch and forget it's there,for me walking through a doorway would be done sideways and I have 7.5'' wrists,I would go to your AD and try them on first.

THE PROBLEM WITH A LARGE CASE ON A SMALL WRIST IS THAT THE CASE WILL GET BANGED UP MORE EASILY! I think the diameter of the case should fall within the width of the wrist. Just my

Best advice is to try them on yourself...so you can see how they fit on your wrist. IMO you would be better off with something like a 000, 005, 111, 112, 176, or 177 to start. While I love the look of the Luminors with the 1950 case, they are a little too thick for me.

It all depends on the size and shape of your wrists. I'm slightly lucky in that I have a pretty flat wrist given that I'm only 6.5" around.

Just try them on and only you can decide.

This is 42mm and wears big on me.


This is 45mm and wears perfect on me.


Here is a good 44mm for me.


Here is a BAD 45.5mm for me.


I wish I had a pic, but the 46mm IWC Mission Earth fits me like a glove.





















So, your wrist on a watch will fit........only one way to find out.

Just test them out and give it a shot as Mik said. They do come in different sizes by the way.

I have a 6" wrist and I have a 050 40mmand a 336 42mm it looks fine...
but the other day when I am at the Ad I try on a 210 45mm and I really like it,
I guess the thickness make a big difference!

The only thing is I can never pull it off with a cal dial w/ 47mm it like I am wearing a clock on my wrist!

Not sure how much the 312 weighs. I meant it is too top heavy.

your 42 mm look ok on you so a 42 mm will look ok too. it will look bigger at first but i think you call pull it off.

the only problem is...that other people will notice it most of the time

My wife has tiny wrists but pulls the 44mm Luminors off with ease. Don't bother with the 40mm!!! You'll just end up flipping it for a 44!!

I dont think you have problem with 44 mm pam... it will look just fine.... trust me, been there, done that.... work just fine for me in the end.

40mm PAMS are a bad idea. They are hard to move. Always go with the 44

This, as some members here can attest to from the last GTG, my wife wear's 44mm PAM's almost daily!

Take the plunge and wear it a day, I promise it'll be weird at first and you'll be so used to it by day two that you won't want to go back to anything smaller.

I think buying a panerai is not a small purchase.. So I highly recommend you to try it on before making any decisions.

I'll chime in as a former 40mm wearer who traded up to the 44's and 45's. I've found that the observations of the different models feeling and wearing differently to be true, e.g., I'm not crazy about the 3 day autos in the 1950 case, but the winding models are all fine.

Thank you everyone, this has been a huge help. I plan on going to the local AD here in Manhattan and trying on a few. My biggest issue is being young no one will give me the time of day, regardless if I am in an expensive suit or wearing my Navi. It looks like the radiomir wears a little smaller, I might just have to get one too.

I find that it is best to just be open and honest with the AD. Tell them you love the look of Panerai and want to take some test drives so to speak but are worried about the size on your wrist. Need to decide if the watch is right for you. If they are any kind of salesmen/women, they'll treat you with respect and try to get you to come in again to buy a Panerai, JLC, etc.

you don't need them to give you the time of day, just pass you the watches to try on ,unless you walk in with notes falling out your pockets these guys can be $£%"$ to most people,if they are too up themselves, just start with the Pams, then move on to the Rolex, try the whole shop on,and if they really pee you off, ask them do they stock G shock!

Thank you everyone for your help and suggestions. Went into the AD to try on a few different models as previously mentioned, along with some AP's and a JLC. None of the PAMs were doing it for me, then out of the corner of my eye I caught the 336 and fell in instant love. Selling my navi 1461 and picking this up in the next two weeks, sorry for the poor quality my hands were shaking from too much excitement. The tobacco dial against the brushed rose gold case and polished bezel is something you truly need to see in person.
