NOT FOR SALE on the case
I recently just purchased an Omega Seamaster GMT 50th Anniversary (2534.50) from a trusted dealer. I got a great price at $1000 considering usually they go for around $2000 and up. The watch also came with the box but no papers.
I was told the watch also had a bit of patina on the markers and a discolored "vintage" bezel, as usually, it would be darker on the night GMT hours: I was looking at the case more in depth, and since this is my first Omega, I wasn't aware s/n are supposed to be inside the case. I looked on it and found on 3 of the 4 corners of the case a "NOT FOR SALE", one on each of the corners of the case: The watch seems authentic to me, running a Omega 1128. I was wondering if this would be a store model? A fake? Thoughts? If authentic, do you think I would be able to resell this one day if I wanted to? |

Perhaps a display only model (i.e. road show)?

Movement is genuine and watch looks very good. Does it have serial number on 7 o’clock lug? Does it corresponds with movement s/n?

That's where I am leaning towards. I do believe the 1128 is in it (by what I can see) and judging from Omega's specs, it is the correct movement.
I am ok if it was a display model. I love the watch. I am happy I paid quite less money for it. I really just hoped the watch store that sold it to me would have disclosed it. I just want to make sure it's not a fake

Perhaps I could go to a local Omega boutique and ask?

Is there a way to check the serial with Omega?

Can't hurt to call a boutique or even the number on the Omega site and see what they have to say.
I think the not for sale watches are usually the preview models that are shown before they actually hit stores. Hopefully nothing suspicious, but I wouldn't call any seller who didn't disclose that "trusted". Whole trusted seller thing gets thrown around too easily around here.
