Nasty.
A wonder which vertebrae and I pray there's no spinal cord injury. Good vibes sent. |

Last I read it was a broken back - although not sure how he could have walked after the accident - adrenalin maybe.

Just read some news articles and it sounds like he's doing OK, which is a big relief.
One article mentioned the T11 and T12 vertebrae. A "broken back" could mean anything from a small hairline crack in the bone which could be quite stable and heal with conservative management, to total destruction of the vertebra and instability leaving the spinal cord injured or unprotected. The stories I've read seem to suggest the former. Looking at the accident again, it appeared to me that Davidson was fully alongside and even slightly ahead of the Ferrari being lapped, when the Ferrari turned into him. A very unfortunate sequence of events. Luckily the Ferrari driver seemed to escape unhurt. |

AS many of you know, this year's race had more amateur drivers than in recent history. New regulations demanded a certain level of Pro-Am team composition. As it turned out many teams put the Am. driver into the seat early on and - you guessed it - an amateur driver was at the wheel of the Ferrari.
The Ferrari team said "that's no place to be passing" and seemed more concerned with whisking their driver away.

To me it looked like the Ferrari driver wasnt watching his mirrors.
I don't think he had a clue that the Toyota was even there until .... |

Very possible - I noticed Davidson wasn't flashing throughout overtaking Perazzini. Not a cause - just noticed it in the video clips.
