Pop the bezel off, line it up and flip it over and press the bezel on the pearl vice the pearl on the bezel. I did mine on a desk blotter so as not to smash the pearl; it will snap into place. Once you're finished a dab of Superglue on the reverse should do the trick. Good luck!

Should I leave the insert in the bezel or take it out?

Are you sure it's not aftermarket? They should snap in in a second..

It should not be aftermarket. I got it from a very trusted seller here.

It may have been my fault. I think I pressed too hard on it when it was not seated correctly and flared an edge.

Maybe you could sand it down a on the edge. I didn't have this problem, but I'm sure it happens.

My 16800 bezel insert is cracked at the top and bottom of the pearl insert. I purchased it secondhand so I'm guessing someone tried this procedure in the past and failed. I discovered this when I disassembled it to run everything through the sonicator. Good luck!

I wonder? Before fitting a new 'pearl' you should make sure there is nothing left of the original. Sometimes when they break the top comes off much like the top of a hard boiled egg leaving a small ring of perspex behind - below the bezel insert. If this is not removed it would be impossible to fit a new one. Others are right, normally pearls fit fairly easily. Tylden.
