Afew pics of my 1601

Here are some pics of my 1966 Datejust 1601 before and after the overhaul. The original julibee band had some small cracks so I opted to replace it with a leather band for now. I'm going to get a new Jubilee either later this year or early next. For a 44 year old watch. I think it looks great

Before the overhaul.

After the overhaul on a black Rolex calf strap.

On a brown croc strap

A couple of wrist shots with the brown croc on.

Great looking watch, I really like the pie pan dial. It has the caliber 15XX, a real workhorse of a movement, so it should give you many years of enjoyment. Congratulations!

That's a very nice looking watch. It's tough to decide which strap looks best because they both look so good!

Great looking watch. You must be on cloud 9 since getting it back.

Thanks everyone

I'm definitely on cloud 9

I've got a black croc strap incoming sometime this week. Although, I'm still contemplating getting a new jubilee for it, I'll probably wait until next year.

Really nice piece. I am sure, that after next 44 years it will be still as classy and timeless elegant as today (and as was 44 years ago).

Now that would be awesome I'm pretty sure it'll still be up and running for at least the next 20 Since I got it overhauled, most the movement is probably new

Not a big fan of fluted bezels, but I have to give it to this piece: hats off. A true classic. I love it on the black leather band. The croc thing is too much for it. This watch is a statement in itself and it doesn't need any accessories to remind of its true value.

Love it. Great photos, man!

Thanks Bill,

I didn't even know that a 1601 had brushed lugs when I bought it (impulse buy ) I was so happy when the RSC said they could refinish it.

Thanks, yeah I kind of know what you mean. I think the black is enough and really lets you appreciate the dial and the bezel.

Classic look. Once (and if) you get the jubilee, it'll be like getting a whole new watch....nothing wrong with the black strap either.
