Trusted Seller Pricing

I haven’t yet purchased anything through a trusted seller but I have a price question for the group. Are the prices shown in the trusted sellers sale listings the absolute bottom price? I don’t want to seem rude asking if someone can do better if best price is typically what is posted.
Thank you.

If you don't ask how will you know?

you can, and should, negotiate.

if it is for a piece where the seller does not have room, they will let you know.

good luck.

As others have noted, always ask.

Depends on seller’s motivation to make a deal, especially if the watch is listed (or bumped often) for several weeks.

Some sellers even state they will consider all REASONABLE offers. If you don’t ask, will never know, and will certainly not offend their senses hoping to negotiate.

Always treat the sellers like doctors and get a second, third and even forth opinion as far as deal. They are all not the same in pricing and service, and you should always shop around for the deal that you are most comfortable with.

I've always wondered what is meant by "reasonable" offers, 5% off? 10%?

Depends on the piece and how it’s priced relative to market. It’s honestly tough to do if you haven’t done some research.

Negotiate everything in life that you can. It adds up.

I think if you ask “what’s your best price?” they’ll direct you to the listed thread amount.
If you make a numerical offer they’re more likely to accept or negotiate.
If they come back with full price, then you know it’s firm.

With a lot of EU based trusted sellers it's hard to negotiate. For my own feeling I need a discount, even how small, i'd walk for a hundred on a 30K watch.

Great advice in this thread so far.

What model are you trying to buy? That will help as some models are hotter than others.

Absolute bottom? I don't think so. I'm sure they will be able to go $1 lower... $2, not so sure

If the seller states “firm” or otherwise states it is the lowest price, you may get a cold shoulder if you pitch a lower price.

I have yet to get a negative reaction to a properly framed offer here on TRF. Sometimes the seller has too much cost already sunk in the watch, or is not ready to lower the price. So I move on the find other options.

Oftentimes if you see a watch sitting unsold for several weeks of bumps, your offer may be accepted without a counteroffer.

A respectful, reasonable offer should fetch some consideration by the seller - and if not, no worries - nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Thinking of adding a couple although not sure which will be the first. Currently shopping both the Explorer II and the Speedmaster Hesalite.

For most models they are running on a much thinner margin than an AD. you can always ask, but in most cases something like 15% off would kill the deal.

Totally depends on the model... BNIB TT DJ 41 can be had for $10.5 (I know, as I just bought one) when MSRP is $12.7 on the Rolex site

Conversely, the MSRP on the new hot BLRO is $9250.00 but Trusted sellers have them for twice that

Share an example of how you’d open a dialogue on price, and the more experienced e-buyers and sellers will chime in.

(This could be fun!)

I’m also curious how others negotiate by email as I’m beginning to plan for a next watch in the 20K range.

I usually offer 20% less for small stuff on eBay - so $20 off a $100 item doesn’t sound rude or unreasonable, however, 20% of a $20,000 watch is huge - $4,000 less! I wonder if that’s considered a low-ball offer? Yet, 20%, I think it’s a good starting point for a negotiation.

What exactly would be considered a low-ball offer? It seems some sellers are particularly annoyed by low ball offers, and some even state they won’t even entertain a response.
