Dinged Fluted Bezel DJ 41MM

I accidentally banged my watch against a doorknob and dinged/ cut the bezel. I generally don't mind scratches but this one is bothering me. I did a quick google search but could't find much info on this. The cut is horizontal and cuts into two of the flutes. Is this fixable through a buff/ re-cutting or should I just replace it?

No such thing as re-cutting a bezel. Only solution offered is polishing, but it’ll round out the bezel depending how deep the marks are. Best way is to replace the bezel entirely.

Post up some pics of the damage.

I just spoke with a jeweler and he said its doable. He's going to forward me a connection who works in the diamond district in NYC near me but they won't be open till after the lockdown ends.

A jeweller might be able to patch it up and tool it out. It's what they do. Worth a try if you're going to essentially bin it and replace. Give them a chance. What's with the Pop-eye the sailorman language lately anyway.

Why not wear it awhile to see if the hurts might wear off.

as to the OP bezel will be expensive and I wouldn't risk and aftermarket, personally I would just consider it wear and tear and if it still bugs you then have them swap it at service, or you could see if one of those laser welding places can fix it.

I’d try to hold out until you service it next, it’s small enough that nobody else will notice.

It’s a family based forum.

I’m Aussie and I don’t hold back in real life but I do not do it in front of my kids, abide by the forum rules, notice any one else dropping the f word?

I wouldn't describe the op's watch as effed. It's impolite. Besides, it was a genuine question in case there was some f-bomb trend I'd missed. F-bomb forum challenge or something.

I haven't paid attention personally but wouldn't think to call someone out on it, just checked and it says "no inappropriate" language so I guess it would depend on how you define that...regardless whatever as this has nothing to do with the question the OP asked.

I didn't even post it and it seems I take more issue with this as it seems we have a sensitive bunch here....I didn't read that as him saying the watch was the issue, just the damage to the bezel was more than expected once the image was shown....then again I am not offended by language choices provided it conveys the sentiment the person is trying to get across effectively and isn't inappropriate in that it is making fun of someone or being derogatory in general.

Rolliworks could weld in some gold and likely fix that. But I believe they are closed due to pandemic

Ouch that's a painful bang. I've read on here that Rolex can replace the part for $$.

I don't see an issue with the swearing. It's appropriate. I see a bigger issue with others calling out the swearing though... Best left to complaining at how television is so vulgar these days!!!.. and never visit social media. The kids will use v upsetting words.

Possibly.

Having some experience with laser welding myself I would gladly pass it onto someone else, that is one tricky mfer to fix properly, trust me.

But if there's someone who can do it, it is most likely them.

Since you’re close to 47th street - wait until the shelter in place is over - and simply go to one of the many watchmakers there and let them advise you on what can or can’t be done.
I suspect that the bezel can be taken off and be made to look like new, but just stay patient and let people in the business of repairing watches guide you......
