Bracelet Sizing at AD

I just purchased an Aqua Terra (38.5mm, Blue dial, older version with vertical /teal deck design). It should arrive within a few days.

I have somewhat smaller wrists and I anticipate having to remove links from the bracelet. This wasn't a problem for me to do on my own with my Seiko Sarb with pins and collars, but I have read it can be quite a pain to adjust Seamaster bracelets. I don't want to muck it up as this is my first luxury piece.

I live pretty close to an Omega boutique. Even though I did not purchase the watch from them, will they resize the bracelet for me at no cost? I assume they know what they're doing? The watch is under Omega warranty if that matters.

One of the reasons I prefer buying at the boutique.

Yes, they will adjust it for you.

But I felt foolish when I did it in the past.

“Hi, I bought this elsewhere to save money. But can you do this for me”?

If I’m you, I’d likely just go to a mall kiosk type place and pay the $20. But that’s just me.

They will do it with a smile on their face, but my local try’s to make me feel bad for buying elsewhere.

They'll adjust it for you, and like Seth I'd feel slightly sheepish about doing it

I'd offer to pay something for their time.

With the right jig removing the pins can be done if you already have the skills to do the work on a Seiko pin bracelet. I wouldn’t try the “tap out, push in” method though.

Probably they would - after all this could have been a present you received.

I’m sure some of the staff does know how to do this. But you are taking a chance with a counter rep trying to do it. Surely they have a watchmaker on staff with the pin removal jig. That would be safer, but it is a risk you take once they take it to the back room. And for that you may get charged.

The Omega Boutique in my town treats me like a king even though the only thing I’ve bought from them is a clasp. The have sized the bracelet on my Speedmaster bought elsewhere and changed it to a strap twice. In addition the tech there put a new battery in my father’s 42 year old retirement Constellation F300 and gave it a light polish, no charge.
I have never felt guilty about being treated nicely.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I'll take it over to them and hopefully they can take care of it for me. I'm also looking for a leather strap for it so maybe they'll have something to my liking.

They will treat you great no matter what.

That’s what the folks at Omega do.

Truly, they are hired well, and trained better.

Someday I might ask them for a job. I love the company.

Just following up to close this question out.

The Omega boutique was happy to help resize the bracelet. It only took a few minutes and I had a nice conversation with an employee about the new AT's vs my older version.

Loving my AT. It's a nice all around watch without question, but once you get it outside, it really really comes to life. The dial explodes. I tried my best to catch it here but the photo doesn't do it justice.
