Reference to the lawsuit, which among other things alleged that an employee who was in the U.S. from China on a student visa was purchasing watches on her own credit card, then selling them overseas via social media.

Student visa from China working at a Rolex AD... it seems that the AD is not checking the immigration status of their employees. I am not sure if they are allowed to work outside of the university setting.

Don’t doubt it, and I always like the small, one-off dealers. My point was mostly that one would have thought the North Shore as a whole would have more than one AD.

If that happened, I could drive there and back in a day.

I had a wonderful experience on my first visit to Persin & Robbin... I even had a friendly chat, while I was waiting on the Rolex specialist to attend to me. I plan to visit again soon.

The good news, the Rolex boutique at WOS wasn’t touched because all they have is exhibition models and wait lists lol!

I had the opposite experience. They heavily insisted on other spend prior to even considering allocating a Rolex.

I'm not a fan of C.D. Peacock, as my experiences have always been subpar entering their stores. A former employee did file a wrongful termination lawsuit, which highlighted their sales to grey market. The initial lawsuit did not not anywhere, but it refiled with more employees joining in. Not sure where that ended up.

Razny is nice. I bought my first luxury watch from there in 2005 - a Breitling Chrono. I also bought my wife's TT date-just from there 2 years back. Service has always been great for me there.

My only experience with Persin was when the sales person from Razny (that sold me the Breitling) moved there. Due to knowing that sales person, I received good attention. No purchase experience there though.

I just telephoned CD Peacock's Oak Brook location and spoke to Bilal (sp.). He advised they are still selling Rolex and have about 5 pieces for sale, while the rest are non-sale exhibition. He gave no indication that they have stopped selling Rolex or will do so soon. P

I was told the same. It is to be part of a new 20k square foot store.

Very historic place, CD Peacock was Chicago's first registered business when the population was 4,000, it's customers included Mary Todd Lincoln, Marshall Field, and Cyrus McCormick.

CD Peacock Old Orchard stopped selling Rolex and Patek more than a year ago. I used this location for service on Rolex, Tudor, and Patek. My experience and CD Peacock Schaumburg was not great... I think the SA was disappointed with my minimal 'spend' within the company. I could tell, when he finally found me in the system

Of all of the ADs I have visited, not one has mentioned prior spend or encouraged me to purchase anything for allocation, however, none of them have promised me anything or anything beyond a rather long, vague wait.

CD Oakbrook flat out suggested I buy my Wife jewelry to get a SS Sub.

“How can I give you a SS Sub without some previous purchases?”

Don't know if it was. But it's likely majority of dealers are supplying grey market.

At CD Peacock Old Orchard... i read the first set of case docs.

Employee 1 was unhappy seeing that only certain managers and reps had certain amount of access to hard-to-obtain Rolexes that she was not allowed to sell to customers. If i remember correctly she was not allowed to sell a GMT BLNR and found that other employees were. Employee 1 said employee 2 was able to sell internationally on platforms (facebook) and in payment methods employee 1 was not allowed to (prepay with her own credit card and then collect cash). Employee 1 said employee 2 did this with the knowledge of management and named those managers. Employee 1 said management allowed for the breaking of company or Rolex policies for employee 2. Then Employee 1 found other employees who were basically left out and not allowed to sell like employee 2. Then she decided to sue.

That's what happened. There are many other Rolex dealers caught doing worse but not reported with lawsuit.

Curious if there are any Bucherer's or Tourneau in the Chicagoland area? Wondering what this acquisition would do for existing retailers. I have to assume the Rolex retailers will get priority when it comes to allocating inventory. Would not want to be an independent AD competeing with Bucherers and Tourneau!

There is a Rolex Boutique operated by Burcherer, on N. Michigan Ave. Nice thing about this boutique... no need to spend on other jewelry; they only sell Rolex Watches. I did receive a follow-up email after visiting and registering interest. I hope to go back again this week for a visit. So far, they have not had anything for sale on display.
