Serial Number For submariner
I have a two tone submariner that I purchased from a friend. When I took the band off to record the serial number I found that it began with the letter
"E" followed by a 4 digit number. My only concern is that the four digit number. Should it be a larger number or would that have been that production number when it was issued. I guess what I am trying to say is the four digit number ok or is the watch possibly a fake? Thanks Richie |

Welcome to TRF, Richie.
Seems like a fake....the letter should be followed by 6 digits!! E.g. E-xxx xxx Cheers - JJ

To my knowledge, there are no 4 digit serial numbers. All those beginning with a letter, should be followed by a 6 digit number.

Thanks for the resposnes but I went back and double checked the number and in fact found that it does have six not four i think the way i saw it under the light . the light reflected off the four digits and i guess i did not see the two additional

Richie
E serial # dates the piece to late 1990 to mid 91. It the watch has never been serviced, now is the time. Even though some people never service their watches, once every 5 years is about right. Vavoom |

Glad to be on board. Never knew what all the fuss was before about a rolex but once you aquire one I now can understand the powerfull feeling of wearing a rolex submariner. I personally think the two tone submariner is one of the nicest watches that Rolex makes.
