Omega question and concern
I have just purchased an Omega Seamaster Professional 300M Chrono Diver and am trying to find information on what rotation rate/direction I should set my watch winder to?
Secondly, when hand winding the watch, it makes a "squeaking" noise not unlike metal rotating against a rubber gasket. It this typical, or should I have the watch inspected. Thank you for your help. |

For winding info, check the Orbita database at:
Orbita Database As for the squeaking, it could be the winding stem rubbing against the seal. I don't think it indicates a problem. Fr. John† |

FWIW, Omega replied to my email inquiring about rotation rate and direction.
They indicate that the watch is to be run at 650-800 revolutions in a clockwise direction (quite a range). |

the noise it's not anything to worry about. If you have the one where the dials are at 6-9-12, the sound is pretty common with that movement.

What you want is enough to keep it topped up, and not so much that you just continually over wind it which causes the mainspring to continuously slip inside the barrel... This is unnecessary wear.. So, use the lowest setting that keeps it going for the watches best health on the long run............

Thanks. I'll leave it on the winder for a week or so and see how it does at 650.
Yes, the dials are at 6, 9, & 12. Glad to hear that the squeak is a common occurrence. |
