Correction meant to say Ref. 116506, also I’ve seen the baguette diamond dial on this site since 2014, so I think I’m OK on the May 2015 warranty card date.

Dial Swap

Diamond dial looks much easier to read. I’m getting older and anything would be
an improvement on the chestnut brown dial. Love the watch, just really hard to
tell the time depending on the light.

Dream of getting a platona for my 50 Bday. The increasing price tag means it can only be a dream. Haha

Good looking watch. I prefer the diamond baguette dial. I’d own one but not a fan of the brown bezel. I know it’s subtle but I know it’s there and unfortunately i can’t get over it…

Has anyone ever seen a platinum Daytona on a brown oysterflex rubber strap? Is it possible to do?

I don't think brown oysterflex exists. But even if it does, it wouldn't fit the lugs of the platinum Daytona, which is only engineered for a platinum oyster bracelet.

What is different about the platinum’s lugs to others?

There are plenty of similar straps available (OF clones). They do in deed fit.

Looks nice. Just wish Rolex made their Oysterflex bracelet in more colors... Does Rolex really only make them in black?

I wonder what the baguette version would look like if you swapped out the brown bezel with a ss black bezel

Surprisingly not very good IMHO. Imagine black dress shoes paired with light blue suit.

I mean I like black shoes way more than brown shoes on average, but suddenly next to the blue, the black doesn’t mesh as well as the chestnut. Sadly.

Yeah i get the shoe analogy , and myself prefer black shoes with my suits , still i would not mind seeing somebody doing the swap and show a picture of it , even if they swap right back to the brown bezel

But with the baguette daytona i feel it just might work since no brown subdials , just funky blue , diamonds and a black bezel …. Who knows

The prices are definitely coming down as far as I can tell.

Got the call a couple weeks ago from my AD.

Been looking for a new precious metal reference, but must admit this was not on my list.

I couldn’t believe how beautiful the dial was in person. One of the most beautiful dials and color combinations I have ever seen.

Very difficult to tell time, however. We’ll see how that plays out in the future. But, for now. I’m enjoying this beauty!

Yes, I am waiting from my AD but also watching the market for a couple of the higher price point pieces (116506 and 5740).

I am finding very few are moving, if at all. The 116506s I have been watching are low 100s now. 100 for regular and 130 for baguette (both are sitting ducks). I have always preferred my name on the papers but if prices approach MSRP + tax I’d be tempted to buy my first piece from grey market.

I was referring to the 5740 for papers. Sorry for not specifying that.
